so my understanding is FORD recommends 1st oil change at 3k or 5k miles, something like that depending on driving conditions. I don't track it, it's my daily driver with about 30 highway miles daily, and there are no hills here in Phoenix. ...I see many are opting to do an earlier oil change closer to 1000 miles ( and I've seen the pics of the contaminants). I'm at 950 miles today and contemplating getting this done, but it will be expensive, is it worth it?? Was also told prior to delivery FORD runs these with the other type of oil to break in the motor and clean it out, so am I just being overly protective for no good reason??

Judging by what i've seen already come out of 1Kmi 350's, I decided to do mine this weekend. Coming up on 900 myself. Using Amsoil.

Good question the oil is filtered before its pumped into the engine. Its probably over kill for a DD.

Im doing mine tomorrow at just about 1000 miles but I plan on keeping this car for ever.

Yes, I am a little over 1000 and it is on my list of things to do.

Have a look at some of the crap in the oil from others 1K oil change.

Synthetic oil change is 0.13% of your asset's value. Seems like very cheap insurance to me. Changed mine at 1,000 and don't regret it.

Actually, assuming you keep great service records, I bet you could recoup 100% of the 1,000 mile oil changes' cost during resale by being able to demonstrate that the car has been obsessively maintained.

Dealers charge 150 bucks for an oil change... I don't see how that is expensive, when the car cost you 60g ?

I had mine done at 2800, will do every 3k or when it complains about it, whichever comes first. I did similar on my previous 2013 GT500, and it was just perfect at 16k miles when I sold it..

I dont have the venerable gt350, but I changed my fluids at 976 miles. The engine was still pretty translucent and not much debris. I have clean drain pans for inspections like this. The transmission also seemed to be pretty clear fluid and not much was on the plug as far as debris. The rear end on the other hand was a mess. It had a ton of metalic on the plug and I flushed it three times with cheap fluid before it stopped running out with mattalic particles.

I just finished my 4th oil change last weekend.
@ 300, @ 1000, @ 4200, @ 6200.

I only did the last one because the car told me to.

Seems excessive... however, the oil was black at all changes. Maybe I could have skipped the 4200 mile one?

First change at 900 mi. Cut the filter open and had all sorts of crap in it. red, blue silicone and a few bits of aluminum chips. Change your oil and get that shit out of your new engine
