I just checked the ford website sync update and there is a new sync 3.4.23188 now. However, when I check my car it's still 3.4.22251. I will wait and see if the car will update using wifi.

it will update if your car is within range of Wi-Fi otherwise it will never update. I did it and notice nothing new

WiFi updates have always been a crapshoot. Some get them, some don’t. I’m in the later category. Also at this point any changes to Sync 3.4 will be in the background so it is highly unlikely anything will be noticeable.

It says I'm up to date.
I'm connected to wifi with auto updating.
What am I missing?

Well nothing that you are actually going to see. But it is still worthwhile to be up to date as you would with any computer.

No I mean why does it say I'm up to date when I'm at build 21194, not the latest.

Most likely because of an issue with your WiFi and or the auto update system. It’s just easier to use a USB stick. Or call the Ford Sync help number and ask them.

The updating over WiFi doesn't really work in many cases. Download and install via USB
He was fine updating via WiFi up until 21194. But if he is showing as up to date then something went wrong. He will not be able to download 23188.

Thanks @Bikeman315 and @Gregs24 . Downloaded on USB and installed in around 10 minutes. I installed it with a battery tender installed and not running. No issues.

Ford has already updated their website to show my new sync of 3.4.23188

I have Wi-Fi updating turned on in my 2022. String signal at my house, but has never updated automatically. Just did the USB update to 23188 today. About ten minutes. Updated my maps last month.

You were lucky. Battery tenders don't work for this purpose. They can merely supply two to three amps at best, whereas Sync draws in excess of fifteen when up and running. Luckily the update was quick, otherwise Sync would have shut down in the middle of it to save battery.

What actually works for keeping all the accessories, Sync included, running with the engine off without depleting the battery is a 12V PC source. They are stabilized and can maintain a constant voltage at 20 to 50 amps, depending on model.
I'm using this one:
https://www.meanwell.co.uk/power-supplies/enclosed-power-supplies/lrs-600-series-2

I've measured the current draw during a Sync update. It varies between 14 and 17 amps. No battery tender can supply that.

Yea, on my other car, the car gave a battery message and tried to shut down multiple times but I just turned it back on before it shut off and finished.
