Chevy came out with a completely redesigned LT1 engine. It had better flowing heads, better intake....pretty much better everything over the ls3. It gained 29 HP.They are saying that the entire engine is different except for the crankshaft, so...
Not a big deal. The current 3 yr old car is slower, too. Doesn't seem to impact sales at all. People love these S550s.Not when they are trying to best the competition. A 455hp Mustang is going to be slower than a 455hp Camaro.
They have to leave something on the table so horsepower junkies go out and buy power packs! :ford:I think 475 would be the perfect "WOW" number.
This. The engine is different out of necessity in the switch to direct injection. That doesn't necessarily mean it's going to get a massive HP bump.
I've always thought it should come with a slightly more aggressive tune.I'd like to see the PP get a power bump over the base GT, even if its only 10-15 hp.
Can you spill anymore beans? If anyone thinks the new 5.0 is getting ONLY a new fuel delivery system to go with the slight displacement increase, a have a camaro I'd like to sell you.
This is awesome news. Very interesting about the hybrid and autonomous cars, too.
Great marketing tool, it would look impressive in an ad. 459 is a little more than Camaro's 455. Almost nobody I've encountered at car shows and bench racing talks about torque numbers, which are pretty dang important! Not once has anyone asked how much tq my car makes. At least Ford is doing D.I. the right way.Guys at Ford Performance, this weekend in Pensacola, said about 459HP.
Pretty much all due to Direct Injection.
