Hit 2000 miles today. Then at 2001.4 miles this happened.... :frusty::rant:

Went to my mom's and moved an empty cabinet from her garage to the curb.
Put it on the curb next to my car (rear passenger side). I was in the process of backing up to move the car because it was windy and I didn't want it to get hit. I wasn't quick enough.

Depending on cost to repair it all I may just have the 1/4 panel dent fixed/touched up and get an aftermarket hood and front bumper assembly. Either way with winter rapidly approaching I will likely wait until Spring and let the already damaged area take the beating for another few months.

Anyone in the area (west Chicago 'burbs) have a good body shop that will be able to match Ruby Red Metallic?

What makes it even worse is that you were doing something nice for your mum!

She feels worse about it than I do. Wants to pay for the fix but no way I'd let that happen. This is what insurance or working some extra OT at work is for.

Sorry that happened to you. On the bright(er) side, now you won't have that nagging worry about the first major ding/scratch.

My Mustang required a front bumper replace/repaint due to a defect and I can tell you to make sure your shop is using the proper 3 stage for the paint!! Ruby Red is done with a tinted clearcoat to give it that pop. If they just paint it like normal you WILL see a difference when compared to an adjacent panel. My eyes aren't 20/20 but I could see the difference the first time I saw it. My shop had to paint it again.
