All new Z-Mount mirrorless cameras announced by Nikon today, the entry level Z6 and the flagship Z7.
Z6:
All new mount is larger with a shallower flange distance which should allow greater lens design freedom, future ultra fast aperture lenses possible including the planned 58mm f0.95 NOCT lens. In-house designed FTZ mount adapter allows the use of the classic F-Mount lens catalog.
One glaring issue many have noticed is both cameras rely on a single XQD card slot. Battery life has been quoted as 300-330 shots but that is likely way low and would be closer to about 1k shots per battery, still much less than a DSLR as you would expect.
Z6:
- approx $2,000
- 24.5mp
- 273-Point on-sensor phase detect AF system
- 5-axis 5-stop in body image stabilization
- 12fps
- 4K ultra-HD video; 8K time-lapse; 120/1080P slow motion
- approx $3,400
- 45.7mp
- 493-Point on-sensor phase detect AF system and up to 9 fps
- Same video spec and IBIS as Z6
