I have a 2023 Mustang GT. I just installed 2M fab Cat delete pipes to go along with my Borla S type cat back with X pipe. The car is loud and I’m looking too quiet it down a little bit. I wasn’t looking for Loud, but I needed to get the cats off Because the car is boosted. I am looking at the Borla resonator internal h pipe to quiet things down. Does anybody know if I will need any adapter to hook up to the cat delete pipes or not? I know it’s 3 inch outlet going to the cat back but 2 1/4 inch inlet going to cat delete pipes with are 3 inch. Just wondering if I’m going to have a problem connecting them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

you'll have to weld adapters on the front side if connecting to 3" pipes off the headers. I used 2.5'" to 3" adapters and v bands.

just an fyi the Borla resonator is quiet for about the first week. once it sees some wot runs it seems to loose its muffling ability...on cold start mine is still loud, better than the x pipe but only by a small margin

Thank you for that info. I’m just looking for a way to quiet the car down especially on cold start up. I’m trying to find a way without replacing the cat back. I found the resonator as an idea, but I don’t want to spend 500 if it’s not gonna make it Substantially lower on cold start .

Magnaflow resonator, and if that's not quiet enough swap the mufflers out for something quieter.

Where exactly in exhaust system do you put the magna flow resonator?

This is currently on Borla site. It says inlet and outlet are both 3 inch so maybe they changed it over the years so I don’t think I need the adapter.

it’s not.. info on their site is misleading… rear connection is 3” but the front is made to connect to factory size something like 2.25”… I cut off the 2.25” section and was left with a 2.5” stub that I had the 2.5”-3” adapters welded onto…internally it’s 2.5”

I don’t know why companies put misinformation on their site. I don’t understand it. I messaged them waiting for a response. Thank you for your help.

One more quick question so the resonator internally is 2 1/2? So it’s the cat pipes are 3 inch going into a resonator that’s 2 1/2 inch then going into the cat back which is 3 inch correct? Thanks you for your help.

Yes.. it’s a bit of a restriction but where I’m at and looking to go it’s not a concern…

Yes, definitely a restriction, especially with me being boosted. My other alternative is switch out the cat back completely but I wouldn’t know which one to go with.
