Looking at the 2014 V6 Mustang vs. the 2014 Ford Focus ST, I'm surprised the performance numbers are so similar. I plan on waiting for 2015 models. I'm not sure if I'll go with the sexier Mustang or a more practical hot-hatch.

Is it just the weight difference that gives the Focus ST those great 0-60 numbers on less horsepower?

I wonder if the next generation Mustang has a bigger difference in performance to make the choice easier.

Ford hasn't made a V-4 in a while. All the 4s are I4s. It is the weight difference and I would bet gearing as well that helps.

Go with the much sexier car, Mustang! Hot hatches are cool among us enthusiasts but to the general public they still have the econobox reputation.

If Focus came with AWD, I'd go with it. Otherwise, wait for the 2015 and get IRS, RWD, and the classic looks of a Mustang.

If you need the extra door for kiddos though, that might change things...
