The 20x8.5 +40 would be pretty conservative for the front, and if you have the PP brakes theres a chance at brake clearance issues. Standard brakes should fit that, but it is a conservative fit

The 20x8.5 +20 in front will work better and more flush, so I'd recommend those with a 255 tire!

Would the +20 match up to the +40 rear or would it stick out further?
Well the front fenders are a little wider than the rears, so the front wheels fit flush with the front fenders, and rears are flush in relation with the rear fenders.

Front fenders are wider? Do you think a 19x9,5 +25 could fit in the front with stock suspension?

Yup 9.5 +25 does fit on the front with up to a 275 tire
But may need to be careful with brake clearance depending on concavity/brake option

I'm really nervous about ordering something that won't look right. Would I be better off with the 20x10 front and rear?

If you want to do the 20x10 we need to now what X factor the wheel is because for instance some 20x10 ET 40 need a 5 mm spacer or even more to clear the caliper.

Some wheels in a 20x10 Et 40 ( niche for instance) clears without any issues.

Lets ask this what and or how do you imagine your ride

Staggered or a wide beefy square setup?

I prefer the staggered look. My car currently has 20x8.5 with a +38 offset and I do find them to be a little too tucked under the car. I've got a set of 2013 GT500 wheels and tires and the more I think about it the more I'm tempted to get them powder coated black and use them.

Thats not a bad idea either those are doable staggered 19/20 fitment if not mistaken correct?

That is correct. From the specs I've found they are:

19x9.5 +44 265/40 19
20x9.5 +50 285/35 20

The offsets still seem too positive but I guess I can try them first.

That's too inset I think. With a 9.5 closer to a +25 to +30 would be best front and rear.
