Videos always look slow buddy. You look faster than the guy in the GTR, he was the true miss daisy last time we went, he has got faster now.

I look a little faster because I was provoking the rear on some corner exits by taking stupid lines hahaha just to make it step out was the only way to unstick it otherwise it just gripped.

To those wondering on that straight where we pass the camera at what looks like 30mph, we were hitting around 95mph before hitting the brakes.

I know touching 100mph would be possible if had confidence in the brakes which in a car that is near 2 tonne on none track orientated pads, lets just say I was keeping the braking SAFE.

The M3 I was over 100mph every time, best was 106mph I think, but huge confidence under braking in that car, HUGE and confidence on the brakes is like having another 100HP on the straight. :)

M3 has alcons, track pads and weighs 1/2 tonne less and its a clutch less manual its far better suited to it, not a case the Mustang is junk, just a case the Mustang is a cruiser, the M3 is an all out stripped warrior.

This looks faster :D

but compared to Jolyons its slow:

[ame]

Unfortunately my scruffiest lap was the best one I got in due to people throwing them at the scenery, best time is now around 1:17.54

Still a huge 2s off F1 drivers pace and trust me I was sweating cobbs and my head was hurting trying to find more, am sure I could find a bit more if I spent a day there. Plus I am gonna say that you can clearly see in the video how my tyres have fallen of the cliff whereas Jolyon clearly has brand new tyres.

Or the reality is I am no F1 driver! We all like to think we are, but man those guys are so talented its untrue. ;)

But nothing beats a single seater for fun on a track!

P.S. Before anyone says why did I not just overtake him without delaying myself, safety comes first and I was waiting for the other guy to properly yield and move from the racing line so I knew it was safe to do so, not our cars and trust me I do not want to crash in one of those things, it would hurt!

tbh its not that bad you're just shedding too much speed under braking don't need to slow down quite so much, carrying more speed keeps aero working giving you more grip and you keep missing you're apex's late on turn in most times though a couple of times you pulled in too soon and took an early apex but didn't run wide enough on exit to gain the benefit of an early apex.
assuming you were being a ***** with the throttle due to lack of grip :)

Like I say it was a scruffy lap, unfortunately on that session the fastest was the scruffy one with slow down for overtaking and it was early in the session. Unfortunately some guy at the end of the pit straight tried to take the 90 degree corner at around 90mph, should be more like 40mph, causing red flag and having to be lifted out the gravel, he was OK. After that the session was essentially ruined, so never got into a smooth flow. Done a 1:17.54 previously due to no traffic in way and smoother, but agreed more time to find in braking and turning in later.

Never gonna get as quick as Jolyon though.

You weren't a million miles off really if you were within a couple of seconds you can gain that easily if you believe jackie stewart he can take 10 seconds off anyones lap time :) when I first went for my touring car license i was miles off the pace you have to hold over 10 laps to get the license didn't take much to bring me up to speed no doubt if you did it a lot more often you'd gain that purely in experience.

thats why i always preferred touring cars to single seaters and other sports cars I find them alot less tiring mentally and physically. Hardest part for me is keeping stable lap times when there's no one to reference around you that takes some concentrating once you're in a pack its easy :)

Haha I am the opposite, in the pack I drive defensively and am to polite to put it on the bumper of the car in front (when my own car), I'd be crap at racing, especially in my own car.

Whereas track to myself, I can really get into a flow. In the 911 I got so lucky one day as I was on a test day, I was the only road car. So it rained, they all pitted to take slicks off and put wets on.

As such I had like 30-40 minutes of track to myself, so much to the point I was lapping Donnington very consistently in the wet, absolutely loved it and I was lapping fast too, around 1:28 in the wet on national circuit on Michelin cups. Every lap within a second of each other, then similar happened when it dried out lol.

If I was racing would 100% have to be not my own car haha, then I am not so bothered about binning it. :D

Here is my track session and near miss from yesterday:

[ame]

Now I watch the video back the car was going quite well and corners really nicely, but even from the start I found the braking torque and stopping power did not seem great but I was a touch braver then later on.

You will see that silver cocky fiesta come really close to me under braking due to me braking early to be safe and I mutter a few words.

All he does then is hold me up, I follow him into the near miss corner, I see the black escort but assume he has clocked us both as he is right on edge of circuit going rather slow, I then see he is aiming for me and my path will take me right into him, the brakes don't do much for slowing the car further so I tighten my line as much as I can and pray, he spot me last minute, in the mirrors it was close, could not of being much more than an inch in it.

I carry on, find myself starting to lift off early and brake early, confidence in the brakes was zero, simply had no ability to go into a corner in full attack mode and I was only using 3rd and 4th, some laps I just did in 4th gear and I tried to cool the brakes/engine of for a lap or two but in short the pads not designed for track work really do not work on track HAHA, stock pads are superior.

Still all in all had great fun out there with Tony and we were both getting round there pretty quick, we both re-passed that cocky fiesta which was fast but his manners were aweful.

Infact track etiquette was nothing but aweful, you will notice how cautious I am when passing car I really hold back in the hope they have seen mean and tend to wait a little just to be sure, both before and after incident. Whereas everyone else out there was driving like they were in a race. It really was a big mess but that is what happens when track session cost ÂŁ30 and there is like 30 cars all out on a short 1 mile circuit. Though I will admit sometimes I am a little to cautious, but when not a single person indicates to give you consent to pass it makes it very difficult. You will notice I through my indicator on several times and moved over for cars.

Still it was fun and kind of wish my brakes were better as the car was going really rather well apart from braking zones, certainly passing plenty of stuff, glad I got out unscathed and I will upload Guy's video later. :)

Here is Guys video:

[ame]

Sound is better as I held camera in my hand so there is no nasty rattling mount noise. Also note Guy is only running headers on the stock catback system, but it sounds really nice inside the cabin which I think you will notice from the video, its all motor noise, his engine mounts help transmit a little more noise I'd say too, but its nice noise and feels very positive.
