Saw some locking Gas 'plugs' for the 2011-14 advertised, even a Ford part. Is there a specific one for the '15-17, or can we use the 11-14 one?

You cannot use the 11-14 cap. I had one left over from my 12 and it does not fit. Ford has yet to release one for the 15-17s.

I'm less concerned with people stealing gas than I am some asshole sticking something in there.. it'd be worth it for piece of mind.

It's not gas theft. It more like people messing with your car. They can still put stupid shit in the tank.
The fact that the lid is not locked when the car is locked is bazaar.

Agree, Don't know WTF Ford is thinking on this one.

Anyone find a plug that works?

I want to see if we can just remove it and use traditional gas caps so I can get a locking one.
I never like this new design. The nozzle drips onto the car when I pull it out. Lol sounds like a personal issue.

Yeah, this has always bothered me, I mean, the outer door should lock when the rest of the car is secured - simple.

I think someone would have to have the special shaped gizmo in the trunk to do it with.

Not really, you can just poke the outer flap with a finger it will open right up. Put something in there and next time you go fill up, it falls right into the tank.
I mean when is the last time you actually check it before you fill up?

It was a big miss for Ford to not include a locking gas door. It would have made more sense to install this than the various gimmicky stuff like horse-shaped puddle lights, but locking gas gaps don't cause "ooos and aaaas" at a Ford dealer.

As these cars age there is also the issue where the flapper valve gets grit buildup that can cause evaporative emissions issues. Keeping the filler area neck clean is key to prevent degradation of the seal from dirt and grime buildup. The one main reason I keep my lock on my S197 5.0 is to keep dirt out out of the filler neck. As an added benefit, nobody is peeing in my gas tank when I'm not around.
