I'm struggling to find anything under $2200 for my Ecoboost. 31 yrs old, although I did have my first ever accident this year. Maybe that has something to do with it?

1300 is a large excess. Perhaps that's why it's cheap. I was quoted 1200 shannons, 650 basic excess.

Just did an online calculation on my ordered GT Convertible. 40 year old, multiple policy and up to 10,000 km a year worked out as $573 a year with $500 excess.

Careful with the cover, 2yr replacement offers won't be honoured and policy value paid out if a car cannot be acquired in 30 days after write off. So don't go soft on the value, particularly sine the price for a replacement just went up on 1-Dec
Insurers have policy wording giving them the option to pay out instead of providing a car they can't acquire because of the 12 month wait.

Just got quote from Shannons to cover 2007 jeep and mustang came back with $1116 for both GREAT DEAL :clap2:
(they getting the house insurance as well)
613 for mustang and 600 excess highly recommend them
best quote around been ringing all morning no one came close
some would not even insure as they had no idea still thinking it is a import and left hand drive.

NRMA is doing full online quotes for Ford oz import mustangs not just gray imports.
With a sum insured of $63,000 I was quoted $1,180 with an excess of $800.
The premium is about $600 cheaper than my current my car which is a 07 FPV GT.
For reference I'm 26, with a clean driving history.
I'm pretty amazed right now. Cheering.

GIOs platinum insurance looks very appealing with lifetime new for old replacement cover. Unfortunately the premiums are very high with a minimum $1200 excess and restrictions on no under 25s.
Anybody have any experience with this cover? No other insurer appears to provide the lifetime new for old cover.

The new for old cover is going to be pointless. Most insurance companies have a limit on how long it takes to source a replacement car...usually a month or two, and if none is available, then they will just pay you out. New mustangs are not going to be available as replacement for years, if ever..

This doesn't appear correct. The GIO PDS states:
If your car has been stolen or damaged in an incident in the period of
insurance and we have agreed to pay your claim as a total loss, we cover
the cost to replace your car, if:
it is possible for us to supply or order a new car of the same make and
model within 90 days of us deciding your car is a total loss or, if one is not
available within that time, it is possible to provide you with a new car that
is in our opinion a similar make or model to your car
