Maybe instead of thinking about what you can do for your car ( I like the pool noodle idea) how about installing some kind of protective lip on the OTHER car?

I have bought some foam padding for the wall - it won't help if the door gets slammed but you can rest the door against it without damagin paint or coating

Between the cars it is a matter of looking out

Now the car has been cleaned and put away for the winter it looks like this
