Haha ok its unanimous! Thanks guys. Installing a full powerbass system this weekend. Looks like those 3.5's are stock 8 ohm and putting 4 ohm's instead is a f*ck around and find out move. Too late now I'll rock em til I fry em

it's too bad Powerbass didnt come out with a plug and play 3.5 matching set to complement their 6.5 set up, would make our lives a tad easier.

True, and its also impossible to find a 3.5" 8 Ohm CAR speaker...seriously. Crutchfield was perplexed and said just upgrade the amp, no simple replacement besides stock

So…yeah. Take a look at these puppies. Thought they were bad, didn’t realize a walmart bluetooth speaker would have been an upgrade. Florida heat may have been a big factor. New powerbass 6.5’s sound great, obviously seeing where I’m coming from haha

So after a few weeks of the new set up in the doors, i will say that i am pleased with the upgrade. The popping and crackling is gone and the sound is much cleaner. So much so that i wanted to see what the rear speaker change would do....that being said
I finally decided to dive into the rear last night.

While i wasnt looking fwd to the job, it was actually easier and faster than my original expectations. I did not have to pull all the interior pool panels to get my deck cover off. Once that was off, 6 screws and we were making progress. I ended up using 6 sheets of sound deadening on the shelf and under the seats. It made a noticeable difference from just knocking around on the metal surfaces so im sure its doing something beside adding some weight.
I also added some foam under the deck panel, it made it fit much more snug when i put it bag in place. This is used packaging foam i saved from something delivered. My deck cover had a sloppy loose fit so im hoping thats the rattle/noise im trying to reduce.
Heres some obligatory pics, no particular order..

Amazing the diff. in the pb magnets vs stock. I bought the same set up with pb but decided to not do the work myself. Love the standard ford 3 bolt set up and factory plug in speaker connection. Now looking at Alpine R.565c.2 front and rear. Rear coaxial, fronts 2 way 6.5 with 1" tweeters. Want to add a midrange to make a 3 way system in the front doors. Looking at KFC-X2C Kenwood or Kappa perfect 300m. Concerned about mounting depth on these. They need 2 3/4" at least. Any thoughts? Also wondering if can I use the stock crossovers??
