If his deal included stacked rebates + dealer incentives, it could have cost him "nothing" ...

... I own a focus st and a 5.0 mustang. mustang gets 27-31mpg focus st gets 24-27 mpg in the real world the focus isn't actually that efficient
I also had both cars, no way a Coyote is getting 27-31 mpg, more like 17 mpg combined.

ST gets ~25 mpg, a significant increase over the GT. That's the real world difference.

Doing the math, if you drive 1,000 miles/month the Stang eats 59 gallons whereas the ST uses 40.

Noting the National Average for Prem gas is $3.39/gal, the fuel cost per month for the Stang is $200/mo and the ST just $135/month.

When you consider other factors (insurance, tires, service, etc.) you're easily approaching $100+/mo in savings.

The OP made a smart decision for his situation.

Your math is a little off. You can put regular in the GT without penalty(Decrease of like 5 hp), most are probably going to put premium in the ST. I bet the ST is a dog without premium. I consider the gas cost a wash.

I would agree. Don't think you're saving much going from a GT to an ST. I had an ST and if you drive it like it's meant to be driven you get low 20s on premium. GT around 17mpg. You lose money of course when selling the GT eating depreciation. And unless you bought a base ST, you're not saving much. In short, makes no sense

hate to break it to you but you're probably doing it wrong if you're getting the coyote at 17 combined. Many of us in the UK are getting 30+ out of the GT no problem we've even posted pictures of it on this very forum. Its not even difficult to get it up there either. I run both the ST and the mustang on what we call super plus (your premium i guess) its current £1.50 per litre.

I think you mean KPG, not MPG. 30 KPG = 18.6 MPG.

The only way to get the photo of the trip showing 30mpg on a GT is to literally baby it on fairly long runs and use cruise control at say 75mph but if you just drive it normally on a daily basis then it’s 18 to 19mpg and then a lot lower if you drive it like it was designed to be driven - we all know this (UK driver)

I have a '13 ST ST2. Really like it although the torque vectoring (ahem...brake grabbing) kinda irks me. But it's a DD/winter car and for that, I think it's a riot.

$42 to fill my last tank of 93. I'm glad this isn't my daily. Gas prices on the rise, unfortunately. Kudos for being responsible.
42$ ?? Holy thats cheap.

My fillup costs me close to 90$ in Canada which is around 70$ USD for 93. And I daily drive my car.. I literally fillup every 2 days no joke.
