Which of these 2 installs is correct? In the manual I was given it shows the one on the right but with the tensioner fully pulled up 100% and the adjustable idler all the way to the left, I am still at least an inch short of getting it on.

I have mine set up like the one on the right. I know they offered a shorter belt for a while with the pic on the left to help a squealing belt issue but I think they went back to the routing on the right after they released the billet tensioner.

The one on the right uses a 107" belt - K061066 is the Gates part number.

Whipple sent me the K061025 belt. I tried it with the left hand configuration and its about a foot to long. I tried it with the right and its about 1 inch too short.

So it looks like whipple is now doing the K061025 belt because of belt slip and squeak, according to the guys at beefcake. Its a nightmare to get on but I finally got it on tonight.

Just in case anyone else wonders, https://whipplesuperchargers.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=396

6-RIB 102.5" BELT
CODE: WB-K061025

Gates Micro-V Belts feature an exclusive truncated rib profile that makes it more flexible than a conventional V-ribbed belt, especially on extra-high speed, small-diameter sheave drives. Also, the shortened rib profile keeps the multi-ribbed belt from bottoming out, helps it tolerate debris in grooves, and reduces heat build-up.

*This is the standard belt for Whipple kits for the 2011-2017 Ford Mustang 5.0L kits.

Good luck

I don't understand why a shorter belt would help much here. Isn't the tensioner putting the same tension on the belt? My 106.6" belt has been working fine, and it's easy to get on, and the tensioner doesn't seem to bottom out.

These new belt sizes are news to me. 106.6 was standard, and works great with the standard pulleys and your adjustable idler set to have your tensioner at 70-80% when the belt is cold. Not sure how maxing the adjustable idler and tensioner are going to help anything. Sounds like a way to be tossing or shredding belts. Standard pulley was 3.75", 102.5" isn't recommended until 3.5". I think Whipple's documentation has some numbers wrong. Its would be wrong all over their website as well. Yikes!

I’m assuming that you have a half inch breaker bar pushing the tensioner as far as it can go?
(Sounds silly, but people HAVE tried to do it using other methods)

I've got the 106.6 belt, I'm running the 3.5 pulley and stock balancer. Actually didn't adjust the belt when I swapped out from the 3.625 pulley. No belt slip and still have room on the idler to adjust if needed.

Yes that is right. I got the belt to go on. I had to flip the little nut around that is behind the idler.

I am going through this right now. the 103 belt did not fit my 3.750 pulley at all it was 2 inches too short so we put a 106. now whipple is saying thats not the correct belt size and i need to find a way to get it on there. The tensioner was at a 100% and it was still 2 inches short.
