ok, I have been lucky as hell with all my turbo cars and never actually experienced compressor surge. how do you identify that compressor surge has occurred, I am having an issue with my EB under High boost as well and I wonder if this may be a contributor?

right on. Good luck BTW, I've already had several issues with this car, but hey, its a first year debut, so I guess i should have expected some issues

There is a good chance that its not compressor surge at all and it is simply the sound of the factory BPV venting into the intake.
Aftermarket intakes make it very noticeable because they are "wide open" and you hear everything.

Does it sound anything like mine? Kinda does a quick bark/whiplash sound instead of the whoosh sound:

Not really. I am using the MAPerformance intake but that's it, no tune. I just avoid getting into boost too fast so it doesn't bark/surge.

under high boost and heavy throttle shifting I get it everytime I boost to 20psi. Is this truly compressor surge or just MAP intake should under heavy boost?

I recall it being explained that it was just the solenoid in the stock bpv being weak and bouncing under high boost.

It doesn't seem to be harmful but if you wanted to fix it you would have to switch to a mechanical bov/bpv.
