At the time I purchased my car, I paid $1800 for wheel and tire protection plus a 1 year extension of the factory warranty (from 4/2025 to 4/2026)and a 2 year extension of the powertrain warranty (from 4/2027 to 4/2029)

I have 30 days to cancel the contract and get a full refund. The car is on a 4 year note, so with just the factory warranty I’d be paying on the car for about a year while it’s out of powertrain warranty.

It feels like a lot of cash for not a lot of coverage. Do you guys think I should cancel or keep it? i drive about 6k miles per year.

high mileage owners please chime in

Warranty is king. There are times I wished I had one when I didn't. These cars aren't perfect, even brand new ones. I'd stick with it, it might save you one day, especially if you drive it hard :like:

Shop around for Ford ESP, there are better deals than that. Lombard Ford or Granger Ford sell them for alot less.

I paid $900 for a year 3 year extension and $500 for wheel and tire protection.
Just checked out Lombard. Thanks for the tip, they have some great deals. I am absolutely canceling and going with them.

For $1200 I got the entire ford warranty extended until 2030. Saved $600 and got better coverage.

Thanks EFI, you just paid for half the cost of the PP2 wheels I’m picking up tonight!

That is a great deal worth it. One little repair and you will be at $500, only time its worth getting the warranty is when you purchase the car. :like:

I got the ESP warranty when I bought my car new - 8 yrs / 100k miles for like $1200. I got it for potential AC problems, but recently used it for an engine failure. Soooo glad I had that extra paper…

You can buy a set of take-off wheels and tires that are nearly new for $1800. Heck you could probably get some Mach 1 wheels for that price.

I wouldn't buy it. 6,000 miles is nothing.

Just read your thread on engine failure. That’s situation is crazy. Ford programming error for sure.

Thanks, yeah, that probably could have been avoided… glad to have my car back again, and really got my money’s worth out of that warranty!

An extended warranty would be nice if they tailored coverage to fit mileage. If you don't drive a lot of miles, they aren't worth it. I need one for 3 years and 8k miles. I don't need one for 36k miles. My car will never see 36k miles.

With my and my wife's cars, I use the factory warranty exclusively for the first 35k miles. At that point, I go to one of the several Ford Dealer ESP sites and extend. Flood Ford, Granger Ford and Lombard Ford seem to have some of the better deals. I used Flood when I last extended my wife's Edge ST.

My Service Tech at my dealer says the Ford ESP is very good, but that it's a pain for them to administer. Their own in-house warranty programs are easy to administer, but they are not the best bang-for-buck warranties, even when you negotiate them to their lowest acceptable price.

Good luck...

I swear by my extended warranties because in less than three years I have gone thru the factory warranties and I don't want to be without coverage.
