Door Latch Recall

Does anyone have a link to the recall notice for the door latch spring recall? Something with the TSB or recall number & info....I'd like to show it to my dealer.

The press release said it was for Mustangs built from May '14 to April '15 but he said its not showing in the computer.

Currently Bruce your vin hasn't been batched released as an effected vehicle. Just checked your vin and it does not have an open recall or fsa.. Until there's an open field service action ford will not Perform the recall.

Asked my service manager about it and my car is on the recall but they have no estimate on parts. He said they will send out a notice when parts are available.

I didn't explain it very well yesterday. When Ford fires off a letter to owners or plans too, it becomes registered on the internal warranty website I have access too as an open Field Service Action, or FSA. This FSA includes certain batches of Vin numbers made in certain time periods. Your car, for now, is not affected by the FSA or recall in any way. It's not listed as a vehicle with the recalled latches and at the moment, doesn't appear to be one that will be. Any current Mustang owner that will or has received the letter will have an open FSA on their VIN on the website.

Parts are not available yet regardless. But even if they were, Ford wouldn't perform the recall as your car is not a recalled vehicle (at least for now or possibly forever).

Along with the recall will be focused in sunbelt states including Mississippi.

My build date was Oct. 30. So maybe that was just a press release of something they are planning to do in the near future.

I'd take it with a grain of salt until you actually hit the recall list with your vin. If your car is an affected vehicle but not on the FSA list yet, plan on waiting about one to two years for this.

Well it seems my car HAS been released as an affected vehicle as I got a letter in the mail from Ford. Recall # 16S30 NHTSA Recall # 16V-643.

It gives all the details and says that parts are expected to be available in Q2 2017. :eyebulge: Damn!! All that time for a side door latch??!!??
