Diff oil spec

Looking to possibly replace the diff oil with a Mainlube product. Don't want the diff to slowly self destruct like the BA/BF/FG ones.

The latest owners manual states:

Gear/Transmission Fluid - 75W WSS-M2C200-D2

Gear/Transmission Fluid - 75W85 WSS-M2C942-A


I believe these are for the manual transmission, and not the diff? It is very ambiguous.

I would have thought that the diff would need at least a 90W gear lube?

Anybody out there who works in Ford service care to comment?

I believe these are for the manual transmission, and not the diff?

You'll find the M2C200-D2 is for the gearbox, and the M2C942-A is for the diff.

The diff also requires about 100ml of friction modifier.
