Was thinking since we are keeping up with the ones that have been taken off the road, why not have a thread to promote those still around to enjoy...

I really loved the 50th LE ponies. Personally I think the blue ones looked better with all the chrome accents but the white is also pretty nice. Great list here. My only gripe with the 2015s is that they got sync 2 instead of sync 3. The systems are sooo different.

Thanks for posting. I’ve seen a few dealers try to pass off 2015 cars that have the anniversary appearance package as actual LE cars and have priced them as such. Hopefully anyone that bought those appearance package cars used know the difference and didn’t over pay.

They made white and blue only? This was an appearance package or drivetrain as well? I do like the Wimbledon White for sure.

The actual LE cars (1,964 of them) were Kona and Wimbledon White only. All cosmetic stuff but they did get numbered dash plaques.

There were also some LE style trim package cars too that came in other colors... which was a bit strange... but I guess they weren't as important/special as the REAL LE cars haha.

Here is a nonspecial LE style red one I found. LOL

Correct, you could the appearance package on other colors but only the Kona and Wimbledon LE cars got the numbered plaques. I believe the louvered glass in the quarter windows is unique to the LE cars and maybe the chrome trim too.

My neighbor across the street had a Triple Yellow 2015 GT with the 50th appearance package. They just traded it in for a BMW X6M last fall.

It should be noted that only the 2015 Mustang GT Limited Edition model and the 2015 Shelby GT350/R models all came with the same VIN and chassis plate build sequence number.

Starting with the 2016 Shelby GT350/R and 2016 Mustang GT model that all went away as the chassis numbers and VIN's did not match each other from 2016 and on.

I originally ordered two Wimbledon White examples one of which was a 6-speed manual transmission U.S. model with the other being an optional 6-speed automatic model that I took delivery of that earlier built unit up in Canada.

Attached are pictures of #912 which was the U.S. model and as you can see the unique transport cover that the FRAP provided for all of these 1964 examples was very elaborate in design and planning.

These LE models also all came with an owner's

kit therefore that is something to look for when purchasing a used model.

Good point on the VIN and plaques. I have a friend (who recently passed unfortunately) who had a 1964-1/2 that he restored and also had a 2015 50th LE (WW). He said he was able to talk to someone at Ford and was able to get the same ending digits for the VIN on his 2015 to match his gen 1. I have seen the VIN tags and they do match, what I don’t know is if he truly was able to have Ford match it or if it was just by happenstance (as crazy as the odds of that happening are). He did special order the 2015 car FWIW and I have heard other similar stories with a few LE’s that were ordered by those that also owned a 64-1/2 car. He had both cars at the time of his passing, not sure what is happening to them but am trying to find out.

Sorry to hear about the recent passing of your friend but it sounds like he had some great times with his various Mustang models over many years of ownership so how good was that!

Interesting story about possible matching VIN's for his 2015 LE and his 1964 1/2 (all were titled as 1965 models) Mustang and would be great to hear and hopefully see some pictures of the possible matching VIN's for Mustangs that were assembled 50 model years apart.

Keep us posted if you are able to confirm anything regarding those two cool Mustangs!

Thanks, definitely caught us off guard. He was only in his mid-40’s.

Will let the group know what I’m able to find out about the VINs and will send some pics if I’m able. He was an only child, his parents are both passed away and he was single. So I’m having some difficulties tracking the cars at this point. A few other friends of ours are also trying to track them down and find out what’s going to happen to them.
