Has anyone else noticed in the lovethedrive.com demo videos that when they're driving in the car when the deflector is up, so are the windows - no blowing hair, no wind noise.

When they lower the deflector, they also lower the windows - so crazy blowing hair, crazy wind noise.

The difference it window position alone has a lot to do with that wind and noise.
Yup, I totally noticed that as well. ;)

I built my own

I really did not like any of the things out there on the market, so I just built one that covers the rear seats - no vertical part. It basically keeps all the wind from blowing back from my neck down. With the windows up, the heat on, and a hat, I've been good all winter.

Looks great, any details on how you constructed the cover?

That looks nice... how did you build it?

Explaining that might be a good original thread... interesting.

Looks great, but I am assuming you cannot move the seats at all?

Just installed my CDC light bar and on the last step, noticed this damage straight out of the box... sigh. :frusty:

Well That Sucks...

Didn't do the check when you opened the box? I ask because I know two guys here locally with the bars. They have no issues, one installed it himself, the other paid to get it done. The bar itself didn't seem to be soft enough to dent like that with normal handling. So could it have happened in the install?

Unfortunately I didn't check when I opened the box. I left the bar wrapped in the provided foam. Lesson learned. It definitely didn't happen during the install cause I left it wrapped in the foam until it was dropped into the car on the last step. I took the foam off right before tightening the two bolts that hold it in place which would have been the time for the victory lap. That's when I noticed it.

Reached out to the place I bought it from and they gave me three options:

1) Accept it as is with a "small" discount. They did not specify the amount.

2) Return it, but has to be full kit return. Can't just return the bar. So I would have to disassemble everything again.

3) Attempt to get the foam to raise with a heat gun.

I started with option 3 today. Hit it with a heat gun and it came 95% out. Now it is only visible from one angle. So I think I am going to reply to the merchant and ask them what the small discount is and probably accept that and leave it be.

Wow

You are definitely a hands on guy. The heat gun option I would expect on mior wood dents. I didn't know it was a way to address dents in upholstered foam products. Good to know.

For what its worth though I think you have done the right thing. The imperfections would not be discovered by the casual observer. Anyway now you have a nice bar that sets your car apart from other convertibles. :headbang:

Yeah, I learned that trick through a bad experience.

I had just bought a brand new 1999 GT vert and had to take it in for its first service. This was when it had about 1500 miles on it. I picked the car up and drove it home. When I got out of the car I noticed stab/puncture holes in the top/soft part of my dash. While it was on the lot someone tried to steal the stereo, got frustrated when they couldn't get it out and stabbed my dashboard a half dozen times. Not to mention all the scratches around the stereo trim.

Brought it back up to the dealer hopping mad. Fortunately, we were family friends of the owners. They immediately called in some interior repair company. The "specialist" said as long as the vinyl top is ok, we should be good. "Watch this" he said. He took out a heat gun and to my amazement the foam came right back to shape. You couldn't even tell there was ever any damage. Then he mixed up some dye or paint or something and fixed the scratches on my trim panel. Again, could never tell. Looked new. I was amazed. And it held up until June of 2006 when I got my new 2007 GT Vert.

I wish I had pictures of the damage, but this was before the days of cell phone cameras.

Nice! You got pics of how it mounts? Also wonder how it fits with the CDC Light Bar.
