I change my air filter each time I change oil (4500 miles). That clamp needs to be TIGHT and seated all the way around the bell. I have noticed on occasion a flutter in idle and even the slightest leak will cause an errant maf read. Also recently had an intermittent air conditioning issue. Turns out the connection to the evaporater (Just right of the winsdshield Reservoir) had jarred loose. I check that clamp now each time I check oil (250miles or so).

I had the same problem air filter not sealing properly and the idle was up and down, fuel ratio and vacuum where going up and down a lot more then normal.
