Very short, but impressive to Autoweek...

Recently we had the opportunity to ride shotgun in a few pre-production examples of the 2015 Mustang around Ford’s Dearborn Development handling course. While there’s no substitute for actually driving the new Mustang ourselves, a test-ride did offer a glimpse into what we can expect once we're allowed behind the wheel.
Mustang GT: The V8 exhaust note from this latest 5-liter engine is just about perfect -- it's not overly invasive, but the cammy growl lets you know a monster lives under the hood. While the Ford course and supplied drivers were speed-limted, acceleration was fantastic. Never did the driver seem restricted by the car, and manipulating the shifter appeared effortless.
More remarkable was the ride and handling: The Mustang remained planted and level, with no excessive lift or squat. Where the old 5.0-liter V8 car felt like a point-and-shoot weapon at the mercy of its live rear axle, the 2015 Mustang proves Ford is on the offensive in the handling department and reportedly benchmarked against the BMW M3 and the Porsche 911.
Mustang EcoBoost I4: The EcoBoost Mustang shared the track manners of the V8, save for the difference in throttle response and the relative absence of "throw you back in the seat" acceleration feel. It had more than enough power to get around the course though, sporting the same agility of its double-displacement GT counterpart.
We also rode in an EcoBoost Mustang with a six-speed automatic transmission: From what we could feel the upgraded auto gearbox provided snappy shifts, while paddle shifter input displayed minimal to no lag.
It’s one thing to go around a test track with test drivers, but another to actually get the opportunity to test the car out for ourselves. Stay tuned and we'll give you a full update from the drivers’ seat of the new 2015 Mustang.
