FORscan code

Points to the passenger side hood actuator

I swapped each side over, reset the code and it still shows as passenger side. I checked the connectors and both sides are getting 1.5v. The only thing left I can think of trying is disconnecting the battery, I don't fancy pulling the wiring loom apart.

Disconnecting the battery didn't work :frown:

Is there anything better to use then FORscan, never really had much faith in FORscan reading and clearing codes ?

I have an MOT tomorrow 😖

It's an MOT fail, as the entire airbag system stops working :crying:

My Mach 1 had this same problem. The tech that fixed it said it was a loose connecter and if i remember correctly it was located somewhere behind the front bumper.

There's a loom that runs behind the front bumper, I'll take a look, thanks.

Also had a similar issue with an airbag light, loose connector. Can't remember quite where it was, but it was connected, just not properly "clicked in".

Do you remember which airbag caused the light ?

No sorry, checked back through my emails, forum posts but it doesn't say. Very vague memory of the tech telling me it was a connection somewhere down in the drives side foot well, so drivers side I guess.

Body control module is in the drivers footwell, worth checking all the plugs and wires are pushed in firmly and there’s no moisture down there. One little twist off bolt and the rest just pops off

Still no luck :crying:

Pulled all the wheel arch out, took the front bumper off and the center console. I've traced the passenger side hood actuator to a connector in the wheel arch, this then joins a wiring loom that goes around the front bumper to another connector below the fuse box. This then runs through the firewall to the RCM in the center console. I've removed all 3 connectors, cleaned and replaced them and still getting the same error.

Tomorrow I'll be testing the continuity between the connectors to see if one of the wires is damaged. Do the wire colours remain the same between connectors ?

So it looks like you can't just attach a multimeter to each end of the wire (there's 2 wires, white with a blue stripe and blue with a green stripe), with the battery disconnected and hope to find/verify continuity. I can probe different pins on different connectors around the engine fuse box and it Still shows continuity. 😣

It's starting to look like I'll be pulling all the wiring loom apart as I can't see where the blue with a green stripe wire goes but first I might as well just try and wire the bonnet actuator directly to the RCM.

Anyone have a wiring diagram ?
