This is going to show my age and granny driving habits. I commute to work 3 days a week in my GT350 and in the mornings I leave the exhaust in quiet mode and I just quietly and benignly cruise to work, listening to news and waking up. Coming home in the afternoon I typically open up the exhaust and drive a bit more sporty to entertain myself. Well, this morning while quietly cruising along a freeway access road another car pulled out in front of me and just crept along, so I pulled into the other lane to pull around and realized the two lanes were merging pretty quickly - requiring that I give the car more throttle (I think in 4th) to pull around. As I did so the exhaust opened up with a roar. First time I've experienced that - exhausts opening up in quiet mode under throttle. I experimented a couple more times and each time the exhaust opened up on their own.

Is this a normal operation pattern? A bit embarrassed to have driven the car for a year and never accelerated hard enough on my morning commute to have discovered this.

Yes, in quite mode if you step on it the valves will open. I can remember at what RPM this happens at but completely normal.

OK - good to know. Something else I didn't know that I didn't know. Like your car - looks like a twin of mine.

2017 GT350 now gone to a great home.
Ha! Normal. I accelerated with my wife in the car this weekend and she said “did you put the exhaust in LOUD MODE?” Lol

On my car in the morning while the engine is still cold my exhaust seems open up much sooner at about 1/3 throttle at any RPM. I am surprised you haven't experienced this before in normal driving. Once it warms up it takes half to 2/3 throttle depending on what gear I am in.

Will it also over-ride and open up in 6th? I probably can't test that out around here.

I think it’s an engine load/throttle position thing vice a rpm trigger point. And no, I wouldn’t floor it in 6th. That’ll bog the engine at just about any speed, LOL. It’s of no harm, but also of no use.

I seem to remember hearing something like 2/3 throttle will open up the valves regardless of the gear selected, to include 6th. It's not super noticeable in 6th, but i can confirm they open if you floor it.

Yeah, 6th gear acceleration is why I said I probably can't test it around here. Might have to be up around 110 or so to be able to test out 6th. Too much interstate truck traffic around here.

In normal mode the active exhaust will not open up under any circumstances in sixth gear.

OK - no need to try to test that out then.
