I am still amazed by the gas mileage this engine gets without the use of any gimmicks, like active fuel management.

I got 20mpg running 85-90mph on the interstate a few weekends ago. Performance pack car with a Whipple, I even did quite a few full throttle blasts that tank.

Never in a million years would I have thought you could have a 650+ whp car and still get 20+ mpg. One of the few advancements in technology I actually enjoy.

The only other V8 I have experience with and owning is a 76 460 mildly built in a F150, 12-6 MPG, floor it and you'll watch that fuel gauge drop,

I was pleasantly suprised when not only does this thing get way ( as expected of course) better gas mileage than my 76 but its also higher than the EB that was in my Fx2 Tremor.

I managed 33MPG on a trip once. I filled up just at the on ramp to the interstate and reset the clock as I was leaving the station.

Of course you are gonna get high MPG's on the NYS Thruway. Gotta do 65 since there is a cop parked every 10 feet.

Lol ... Nobody does 65 on the NYS Thruway. You'd get run off the road.

27.8 mpg at 70 mph. Brother called Bs so I snapped a pic and sent it to him. Coming from a Jeep JK with a V6 and 285 hp that got 16 mpg is pretty sweet.

Keep in mind, it's only displaying average MPG. Actual MPG could be much higher.
Again, also quite astonishing.

I came from a 170hp V6 Tiburon that got 19city/26 Highway.
Got into a 435hp GT Mustang that gets 20city/28 Highway.
More than double the power and better economy!

Best I ever had was 27.4 on a trip from Long Island to Watertown, cruising mostly at 80-82 on cruise control. Was quite happy with it considering you can still go quite a distance on a tank of gas in a muscle/sport car.

Track your mpg with gallons used vs miles. Then compare to what the computer says. You may be surprised.

My computer reads 1.5-2 mpg lower than what I actually get. Which is kind of surprising since every other vehicle I've driven with mpg read outs was always high.

24.7 mpg in my 5.0 GT - 1st time ever over 18mpg!

Drove up to the Historic Gran Prix weekend in Watkins Glen, NY (1st time visit) with my wife, broke out of the teens for the first time ever :headbang: I'm always in the mid 15-mid sixteen range for normal driving, miles driven divided by gallons consumed.
I'm pretty pumped, especially after 2 years of reading all the stories of other 5.0 owners on the forum getting in the high 20s... Maybe I should take my wife everywhere I go from now on.
