It is rare to see this vent in body color, going the extra distance. Will have a big pay off, nice..

Yes, they are the same.
Air Design makes the vents for Ford.

Bit late to the thread but we are having half a years rain (600mm) in two days here so just discovering threads I can read to while away the time. I put the Air Design vents on in late 2019 after getting them painted in Orange Fury. I was inspired by a US car on this forum that had been colour matched to their white 2018. I do prefer the more subtle look of the colour matching. And the honeycomb inserts were fairly easy to separate. My indicator surrounds (last photo) by Air Design were added at a later date.

What a complete difference with them color matched compared to gloss black

Has anyone actually enlarged the hole under the hood vent to let it be more functional?

The honeycomb part of the vent itself is 100% open, however the hole underneath is tiny in comparison. I was thinking of enlarging the hole to match the size of the honeycomb.

You would also need to do both the upper and lower hood skins as they are sized to work with the vent (and the drip tray on the underside) :

Yeah that was the idea, basically taking the edge all the way out just shy of the mounting points for the 4 studs that go through the hood.

Since the hood vent is 3 pieces (2 trays and the honeycomb piece) once put all back together there would be no way to see the cuts. But when taking the drip tray and the top gasket off, it would be wide open for when extra cooling is needed.
