Hello,
I have created this thread in order to make you aware of a growing problem in the S550 market. Thousands of MT-82 cars are being purchased throughout the world, not knowing of the troubles they will soon face at the drag strip. Many of this poor souls have upgraded their cars by adding superchargers, full suspension setups, twin-disc clutches, short throw shifters, and drag wheel setups, only to find out that there are no DOT legal bias ply tire options available for the required 17x10" rear wheels on these models. We are faced with risking our already shakey MT-82s by running a radial tire (#SaveTheManuals!). Because of this, many owners go into depression, some denial. Others have decided to remain hopeful that one day, hopefully soon, top tier tire manufacturers such as yourselves (Hoosier/M&H/Mickey Thompson) will bring forth a revolutionary design that will have us all cutting 1.3-1.5 sixty foots. All we are asking for is a solid 28x10.5" DOT legal bias ply tire! Save us the trouble of spending thousands to convert to a drag brake setup that doesn't have a provision for an emergency brake! Please hear our cries for help. We need you more now than ever!
Sincerely,
Some guy that races NMRA events
