I just parked my car in the garage, and while I was wiping it down, I noticed a part that felt a little "tougher" to wipe off than the other little dirt. Turns out that it's a chip in the paint and probably came from a rock or something.

While it's very very small, it still stands out when you're looking at it from a distance, because you can see a solid little spot of white.

I've just ordered some touch up paint from Ford Parts, but I'm wondering if it's better to just have it repainted. I got a quote from a place where I've had some body/paint work done in the past on a previous car and they estimated between $500-600.

I know nicks and stuff will come over the years, but I'm not out on the road every day and would love to get this fixed. I can also feel it when I rub my finger over it.

Any suggestions? Touch up paint worth it? Or have it repainted? Attached pictures of it.

Due to epa regulations these cars have insanely thin paint. Just touch it up. You will get chips very frequently. Ford just started selling touch up paint with clearcoat which does a very good job of covering these spots and is unnoticeable.

Just use touch up paint.

Dr Colorchip is the preferred method around here. I wouldn't bother repainting the entire hood for ONE chip.

Gotcha. Thanks a lot guys! Is the touch up paint going to be obvious? Even if it's done correctly?

Depends how deep it is. You'll likely still feel it, but won't see it.
