Inferred

That's what I thought as well.

On the EB the oil temp listed on the Lcd cluster is based off of coolant temp, head temp, ambient temp among other things.

The only true temperatures on the car that I have found that have sensors are oil pressure, coolant temp, boost/vaccum, intake air temp, charge air temp, cyl head temp and a few other ones.

In my opinion it's ridiculous that they couldn't put a real oil temp sensor.
Hmmmm..... Well if it isn't on the EB I guarantee you it is not on the 6. I wonder how the oil temp gauge will react now because of this... If it works then it will not be all that accurate as you have stated. The hope is that it will be able to read whatever the LCD cluster is using. With that said, that is assuming the calculations are not being done in the cluster. If everything is localized in the cluster then the oil temp gauge will not work.

Yeah I'm not sure. I thought I'd chime in.

I have a mechanical gauge that I run for that reason that gets a true reading.

I'm curious on your findings!

Thanks for the heads up! Will be alittle disappointing if the temp gauge does not work. This is all testing though so we shall see!

Thanks, zachmd1. I'd love to drop the PP gauges into mine too, I'll be following.

Well I looked at the engine today. I couldn't identify a specific oil temp sensor. I can find the pressure switch but a few inches up there is an empty port caped off. Good news is if I really wanted to I could potentially add the temp sensor. It has me wondering if the 350 oil temp sensor can be added to any S550. (with custom wiring of course)

Do the GT's or GT PP's have an Oil Temp Sensor? or are they like the EB and just interpolate from the various coolant sensors?
Should be a plug and play swap for you.

I do not know... The EB does NOT have a temp sensor according to Anthony. I do not have a conformation on wether or not the GT has the temp sensor.

EB doesn't have a legitimate oil temp sensor...well that's just fantastic. That actually kinda pisses me off.

Interesting, if I could get that temp sensor for my GT and have it work that would be wonderful.

That will be the next step in the process once I verify the that at least the pressure gauge works. I do not think it will be to difficult to wire up the 350's temp sensor. The question will be programming and cost.

So the gauges are in!!! Some surprising behavior when I plugged them in. So the oil temp gauge DOES indeed work! The question is what the gauge is reading... Cylinder head temp is pretty damn close to what the gauge is reading when I view it in the LCD cluster. So it is either directly reading cylinder head temp or reading the inferred oil temp.

The downside to the install is that the oil pressure gauge does NOT work.... I do have a theory for this though that I need to confirm with part numbers. I believe that all standard 2015 mustangs have an oil pressure switch. Basically this switch has two readings, high or low. The PP mustangs might come with a true pressure gauge which will allow the gauge to function. If this is true the part numbers for the oil pressure sending unit should be different. The good news is that if it is the sending unit it should just be a simple swap from the base to PP sender to get the gauge to work.

Until I have more info here are some pictures!!

Looks like my theory is correct!! I can find part numbers for two different oil pressure sending units. One reads "less performance pack" and the other "with performance pack". Best part about it is that the unit is only $30!
