Fantastic! Do attribute your faster times to the Nitto tires?
Not really. I think it's more attributable to the GT350 mani/tb setup. I've run high 1:20s before on the Michelins before installing the GT350 setup, so I think it would have been possible.

HOWEVER - I don't think it would be possible to be consistently lower. The extra speeds taxed the Michelins under breaking and triggered ABS more.

I believe with an equal footprint I would be significantly faster with the Nittos.

All of that aside, the NT01 are much more forgiving and more 'fun' to push. Turn 10, after the 120mph straight, was giving me fits earlier in the day and I was basically hanging the back end out but never lost it and never spun. Just some countersteer and throttle and it was good to go. Given the same scenario with the Michelins and I would likely have been off track in bad way most likely. ;)

You can see it here around the 5:25 mark and again at 9:35ish (maybe more lol)

Thanks for elaborating on that Stoli. I'm currently setting up my car (GTPP manual) for some HPDE work and I've followed your thread fairly closely. I will most likely be running the MPSS or MPS4S with the GT350 295/305 setup for a while until I feel I'm at the point to go the next step and get dedicated track wheels and tires.

I saw your post about looking for track tires and followed it with curiosity. It looks like the 18" wheels are preferred and I was really curious how the Nittos performed for you.

I like them a lot, but I could see just as easily running the PSS. The PSS talk a lot more leading up to the limits whereas they Nittos don't say shit until they are there. ;)

I have a full appreciation now of the others with loads more experience that say to stick with street tires for a while before going to an R compound.

Brake duct project v2.0 -- taking back my fog lights.

I've been running the Full Tilt Boogie brake duct kit for several months and it is works great. However, I want my brake lights back. Someone <insert credit here> else had done a similar setup to what I'm trying but instead of using the the center section of the lower grill, opened up the outside sections of the grill.

Using the center should allow for a little more flow, and frankly should be easier to piece together.

This simply uses $10 worth of 4" - 3" return reducer from Home Depot. I could probably have used the plastic reducer/fog light insert that comes with the FTB kit, but I didn't want to cut into them should this setup fail.

Later this week I'll pull the bumper, test fit, and then clean it up and mount everything properly
So going closer to the center presented problems with clearing the radiator. Back to the sides of the bottom grill (and while the bumper was off, installed the improved, larger Big Mouth).

Now I have my fogs back and it's a straighter shot form the ducts to the rotors.

Ahh... I was wondering about the clearance issues running them closer to center. Answers my question!

The sides of the grill are about perfect for a straight shot to the wheel well. You need to trim some plastic that comes down below the crash bar, but no biggie. For comparison, I was able to use about 8-10" less of the duct hose than when in the fog light location.

Had to get another track toy.

Already have a roll bar on the way, picked up a used Torsen lsd, and will be doing brakes and tires....
