As an outsider with an import.. I will tell you 90% of the population will always think of the Mustang GT as a muscle car. Only the guys from the Muscle car era or guys that really know the history will refer it to as a pony car.

But what is really seperating it from a let's say, Dodge Challenger Scatpack aside from the GT being lighter and smaller?

The reputation of the the Mustang with a rumbling V8 in a two door coupe will always have the muscle car stigma attached to it.

A "Modern Day Muscle Car" can also fit the description as well. The import scene will always consider the big 3 as muscle cars.. Just my 2 cents and majority of the public's POV.

It's a muscle car to me. As is the Camaro (albeit an ugly muscle car) and the "land yachts" that Dodge offers.

It's right there on the car; "GT"......Mustangs are Grand Touring cars.

The proper thing to call them is a Pony car. They most certainly are NOT a muscle car. That click-bait article was written by an automotive retard, so take it for what it's worth.

I guess the Ecoboost is a musclecar since it doesn't have GT in the name.
