So the other day I was driving near Ipswich and a rock was kicked up and cracked the windscreen. Wasn't bad at first but after hitting a few bumps it's now grown bigger. Just wondering if anyone has any idea where to get a new windscreen, the car was imported so I'm not sure if a dealership will do anything with it.

Maybe try the autoglass type repair 1st before spending a shedload on a new glass and cost to replace?

I seem to recall that if you claim on insurance, the excess is only £50 and you don't lose your no-claims. Could be talking sh1te, but worth looking into.

does that mean you get rid of the only Ford badge on the car if you have to replace it?

I would imagine the issue is not so much insurance/cost as it is just getting hold of one.

You might end up having to source one from the States and seeing if your insurance co. will pick up the tab.

I dread to think how long an official one would take to come through from Ford.

Given that we now have an official UK/Euro model the windscreen people should be stocking these now. And before anyone takes my head off about spares supply we have now ordered about the same number of Mustangs as there are Chrysler 300's and about 4 times as many as there ever were UK Chevy Blazers. They had bugger all in the way of dealer support and I had no trouble getting windscreens replaced on either of them through Autoglass or similar. The difficulty with a personal import is whether it matches the spec of the UK model for things like auto wipers.

I have high hopes of Ford for spares supply as they have outperformed every other make I have ever owned (and I'm 56) on price and lead time (same day or next morning for most spares). I just hope they don't disappoint on the Mustang.

I don't doubt that in time, spares supply won't be much of an issue. A mere 3 months or so after the first cars landed over here? Not so sure.
You are probably right. I had an unexpected burst of optimism. :)

can confirm this is true for most policies. its known as a "windshield claim" and doesnt count as a full claim.

And it's usually limited to three claims per year.
