No any changes to emissions systems unless CA approved. I've heard of only one other CA approved tune besides Power Packs. Forgot its name as it wasn't worth it.
Extended knock in 2000-3500 rpm range with octane adjust switch ON during even moderate accelerations. This is consistent with other people experiences. Just search this forum. It is best to drive by some obstacle with windows down to hear. Like next to parked cars would be enough. Some people...
sounds very credible.
here's the poll i opened awhile ago.

it includes a "i do not have a power pack" option which is around 45 % of voters, which shouldn't be there....
if we rescale 7.7 +...
You should hope for best outcome. Based on my personal stats chances are 50%\50%. Not too bad. And I also think that pp3 has better chances to have no pinging. The pinging happens in the 2-3k rpm area where they have that big bump in hp\tq for pp1\2 that pp3 does noy have.
As far as returns go...
oh yes, forgot to mention I've replaced PCV valve as well just in case. No difference. And when I tested my intake system with a smoke machine that included PCV fittings as well. No leaks.
My oil catch can does not collect much oil. I do not emty it until I replace oil. And I replave oil when...
it is a hit or miss with power packs that is true for gen1 and 2. Either you do not have pinging and then there's nothing to worry about or you have it and there likely nothing that could be done about it. You can ride your car conservatively and there will be no pinging, but then what is the...
From my experience at autocross it is best to get a reputable kit -springs, shocks and swaybars rather than mix your own salad unless you really know what you do.
Got the smoke generator and no IM leaks. So PP2 detonation remains a mistery for now.
P.S. The test was with oem intake, OEM tune. I probably should smoke test gt350 intake and throttle body as well... will report once I test them up.
Back to the thread... You effectively have PP3 hardware with a PP2 tune which is very interesting. Someone here (on pp dedicated threads) suggested that 3 and 2 tunes are identical. But I think at least the redline is different.
If your dyno suddenly shows typical pp3 lines I'd be surprised...
Hm.... thanks for the idea, Paul. I'll buy a smoker and try one. It's $, but saves time versus manifold removal.... and then how would I even inspect one once its out. The crack may be not obvious.
I've got a PP2 as well and my engine detonates with one no matter what I tried. I think that maybe my stock manifold has a minor crack or something, sucks some extra air enough to cause detonation, but not enough to throw codes. There were threads here at the forum regarding manifild cracks and...
