I blocked off the vent on my ‘17 after my car actually ingested water into the intake tract and played nasty games as it got drawn thru the MAF sensor. The box was sealed tight, so guessing it picked up water thru the small openings in the grill where it draws in fresh air. It is an issue.
Anyone else get close to this result with the basic Vortech kit with a JLT air cleaner, larger injectors and tune? This was achieved on crappy 91 octane gas here in California.
Would love to know if anyone is getting significantly more power with similar modifications and how you did it. :)
I blocked of the drivers side hood vent to stop water from getting into my intake tract. I have a JLT open element air cleaner and the vent dumps water directly into it. Dumb, dumb, dumb. The vents are really cheesy anyway. I wish I had a hood with no vents. What I did today !
Hey. Looking at getting a 350 or 350 R and was wondering if anyone has experience being able to determine if it is worthwhile to step up to the “R”?:shrug:
Andrew: I also have a ‘17 Mustang GT 6 Speed. I have the stock base Vortech blower with the Vortech tune. I am looking to do a few upgrades and need a custom dyno tune. Do you have an in-house dyno?
Mine was the stick kit with stock Vortech tune, but now trying to figure out the best path forward to upgrade it. I had an ‘11 GT with the same kit. I later added a JLT intake, fresh plugs and bossy a pump. With a Brenspeed tune she made an additional 50hp and 50 lb ft! Unfortunately...
What Ismaili your setup?
Congrats on your new Vortech! I have the complete Vortech kit on my ‘17. What exactly do you install? Complete kit? Custome parts?
The California Air Resources Board ("CARB") just certified the Vortech kit, under Exemption order (EO) #D-213-36

I have vitually the same kit, but with the Vortech V3 head unit. I would suggest calling Vortech to see if they can help diagnose...I am sure they know all common issues. PM me if you need a contact there.
Here in California ((strictest in the US), there is no tailpipe test for cars newer than 2000. They just check to make sure no check engine light is on and no codes stored, plus a visual check to be sure no non-certified parts are installed. That said, if Az will test your tailpipe and you do...
