I've changed a lot of filters on cars, bikes, tractors and other equipment. I've never seen a properly installed filter loosen. They always get tighter. I attribute this to the gasket lube drying out.

Try letting someone else drive it that is good with a stick just be sure it's not your technique? Sounds like a trip to the dealer is in order though.
