I've had this happen to my sync 3 once before in the middle of a drive, not related to any update. I left the car off at a friend's house, came back later and it was normal. Sounds like that worked for you too.
The paperwork says they checked the engine oil and coolant for any mixing, as well as for leaks. At a 1 year service interval I think it will be unlikely to catch the problem before damage occurs.

If you can reproduce the sound, you can always take it to the dealer and ask them to ride along and hear the sound, tell you if it's normal or not.
The geofencing is cool. I haven't had to touch the app for a few days now because it's in the right setting wherever I am. Still need to play around with the RPM settings to see what it can do - maybe a nice loud rumble on idle but then go a bit quieter on take off?

That sounds like a smart plan. If the new OEM oil cooler part is really new, it should make sense to at least swap it out.
