I've been going back and forth on doing these but that is shaving so much weight off the front that it makes it hard to pass up. Did you get a chance to weigh the rears?
I'm also curious about this. I can't seem to find any info on it. Most people just run a 17" or do drag brakes. If 11-14's would bolt up I would definitely consider doing it.
The cats definitely tone it down quite a bit at idle and at normal cruising but it still sounds really aggressive at WOT or with a blip of the throttle. The cold start is still pretty obnoxious. It almost reminds me of the valved exhaust on my BMW's....only loud at cold start and when you want...
Not aftermarket wheels, but we did upgrade my daughter's A6 GT to factory PP wheels with 1/4" spacers all around and 305/35 NT05R's on the rear. We have some 20's coming, but for now this got rid of the factory 18's.
I can't even explain how happy I am with the catted ARH's through the Corsa Sport catback we did on my daughter's car. It's everything we wanted....tame and tolerable at idle and cruising but still sounds vicious at WOT.
Thanks for all the replies guys. I didn't realize there was that significant of a difference between the sizes I was asking about. You all have me leaning toward 275/35 front and 315/35 rear.
Well I may not be clear on the sizes, but what I imagined that combo looking like is a slightly shorter tire in the front with a slightly taller tire in the rear. Granted, there may be way too much of a difference between those two sizes
What sizes are you recommending for that setup?
I've been looking at various tire brand/size combos for a 20x10/20x11 set of wheels. I feel like I am set on a 315/35R20 Nitto NT05R for the rear but I can't decide what to run on the front. I've seen 275/35 and 285/35 fronts paired with that rear tire, but I don't know if I like that much...
Are you doing OPG's, timing sprocket, etc? The answer I'm looking for is, "Yes, because I will be pushing the stock motor to within an inch of its life."
I don't have a rear shot on my phone right now, but it will definitely make them look a little wider because you are seeing the width of the tire, not necessarily the width of the wheel.
