  1. Welcome back Mach 1

I am so happy to eat crow on this one and very pleased Ford brought back the Mach 1. Maybe one will be in my future.
  2. Western North Carolina stangs

WNC is a great place to live and work. You'll have to adjust to state income tax and property tax on vehicles. Take a look at the cities for IT work. Our roads are awesome, one of the perks living here. Four seasons are great too, just when your sick of summer heat here comes fall. We moved...
  3. Daytona 500

That would be a fun test. I think there would be over heating issues as I don't think production vehicles are designed for WOT for long periods. I agree it sucks Ford didn't get the win but the iconic number "3" win is cool in another way.
  4. Welcome back Mach 1

The future Mach 1 may be a disappointment and might as well be dead. Since Ford thinks using "Mach 1" on an SUV is ok I think we should recognized and remember our favorite Mach 1. I'll start with 1970 Mach that I should of never sold. She had a swaped 429,C6,3.91 gears and was a blast to...
  5. 2020 Mach 1!

I wonder if this is a gimmick to see how strong the interest is in a Mach 1. Anybody remember the "New Coke" experiment? I think a Mach 1 done right would sell better than a bullet.
  6. Royal Crimson 2018 GT 10speed

I just saw this color and wheel option in person and it is amazing. Congrats! The color looks like a candy paint in the sunlight....beautiful. The pics on this forum do no justice to this color.
  7. Hood corrosion

Well this sucks. You shouldn't have to do this but I would find a high end body shop and bite the bullet to get it right. The corrosion that is STILL happening should be a major embarrassment to Ford.
  8. Hood corrosion

They probably had to blend into the fender so you wouldn't notice the slight color variance, very common practice by body shops. Some colors have up to 20 variances that may be used to get a match. There is also a $10k machine they used to get a computer match. Metallics are even harder to...
  9. New Garage Who's This?

Another option besides professional epoxy or race deck would be VCT tiles. I had a 20x30 garage that I put black and white VCT tiles down in checker pattern. The cool part of VCT tile is once you glue them down you can drive on it. No cure time. It was easy to keep clean with a large floor...
  10. Rust already?!?

Yeah go ASAP and good luck to ya. I still think this is caused by poor paint coverage on the edge of the stamping. My 08 had the same corrosion at the sharp edge of the stamping just like yours. I caught mine before it crept to the topside so a repair was easy without a total repaint of the...
  11. Rust already?!?

Can you post a pic from underside of the hood and see if the corrosion started at the seam? My 2008 did the same thing....ford is STILL having issues with this on the s550. The hood is aluminum and there is a bunch of internet chatter about this problem. I hope the dealer offers a free repair.
  12. ANCAP Ratings

This is not a bash Ford thread......But I was surprised when I stumbled on this info. I don't own a s550 but plan to some day so this info caught my eye. I'm unsure if I totally agree with the crash ratings but none the less they are out there to help or hurt a cars appeal. Seems all to often we...
  13. Hood corrosion

tsunami: Yes my hood had the white powdery corrosion under the paint. I wire wheeled down to shiny aluminum, then self etching primer, followed by top coat. The galvanic corrosion issue could be part of it but I don't think that is the entire story. I got to thinking about the dissimilar...
  14. New 2018 Coyote 5.0 Engine...

According to this basic calculator the compression ratio bump alone would bring HP to 444. We will see what the other improvements bring. http://bgsoflex.com/crchange.html
  15. 2017 mustang gt pictures of factory paint defects.

I feel for ya OP, I would be pissed beyond belief. The defective repair you have is the result of a hurry up job. Primer and body work needs time to shrink after is has been worked then sanded, primed and reblocked. Body shops that are in a hurry don't spend the extra time, most people don't...
  16. Hood corrosion

Another possibility besides the other suspects is poor paint coverage. When you make a stamping you have very sharp edges and those sharp edges do not allow paint film buildup. Paint tends to roll off of sharp edges. So if the paint layer is very thin this could allow moisture to reach the...
  17. Ordered a 2017 GT, walked away once delivered...

I would agree you made the right decision... the body damage would be a deal breaker. Being so close to the 2018 release I would be inclined to wait to see if I liked the changes/improvements. I now how tough waiting can be but how cool some of those improvements might be.
  18. Lets talk hypethetically, All aluminum mustang!

Another reason Ford has switched to aluminum is to allow more options(more weight) and maintain best in class cargo and towing. The class these trucks are in have max weight limits so something has to go as they add stuff. Makes sense from a marketing perspective, why would they want to lower...
  19. Tail of the Dragon - TONS of Mustangs

Great video. Did you take the drone shots or did killboy help out? I'm only 2.5 hours away from dragon so I get to enjoy the dragon several times a year(mustang and bike). Before they prohibited large trucks from that part of 129 you might of had a interesting encounter....potentially deadly...
  20. Why are there so many 15' Mustangs for sale?

Yes I agree. When you look at the Carfax many of them say corporate or such.
