I saw an R for sale a few years ago at a dealer (not Ford) and it had replica wheels on it.. I suspect the dealership did not know to confirm the CF wheels were there when they priced it/ took it in on trade. No way I'd write the check w/o knowing they were there for sure.

The time is right. Probably should have discontinued it last year. Either way, the R remains a special car to me and will be around a very, very long time.

I know a few people that just can't keep a car for more than a few years, they always have to have the latest and greatest and/or they get bored easy... doesn't matter what they own. The GT350/R is one of these "gotta own it then gotta move it" type cars. :)

I would say that the statement "there are a ton of these (buy backs) out there" is a big time exaggeration. We are seeing SOME of them, but as a former Z06 owner, no more than you'd see with a lot of other major brands IMO.

Everyone's experience is different with cars like these, for some it's a passion, or they always wanted a Shelby. For some it was wanting the latest and greatest and they loved the fact that it was hard to get. Then when they became more common (relatively speaking, ie, the markups were gone)...

When I traded my GT350 for my R, the dealer told me they would have offered me a few thousand less if I had removed the stripes. Glad I didn't.
