After chasing for an update (again), I finally have a partial VIN. However, I was wondering whether I could complete it with some generic details for see if it's on ETIS etc?

The partial code I have is only 11 digits and starts with CF1G. Judging by other VINs I've seen it's the first 6 digits I need - or are these also unique to each vehicle?

I tried with a 'generic' V8 6 digit code and sure enough, got a result on ETIS. However, the build date is shown as 30.11.0002 ?

Surely shome mishtake?

Out of interest, what dealer did you order from, Stiggy?

Matt (Cookie) ordered from the one in Reading as is also chasing.......although I think he won't get much info yet as he "only" ordered about 8 weeks ago

Thanks Ian - however not the news I was hoping for given I was 'assured' that it would be built 11/11 :(

Gowrings - who have been utterly and completely useless. There's actually a fair chance he'll see his car before mine at this rate!

A potted history:

Placed order 15th April with salesman 'Sven' who seemed pretty clueless at the time (now long gone I think)
Chased in June to be told by Sven that Martin O'Neill was in charge of placing orders
Chased June/July - no response.
Chased August (28th) and moaned at Gowrings over complete lack of comms.
Saw thread on here re Andy Barratt, emailed him and he kindly involved Karen Batt.
Found from Karen that my order was ONLY PLACED ON 28th AUGUST and so I could expect the car July 2016!!!! :-o
Expressed my displeasure at the shocking ineptitude of the dealership who had sat on the order for 4 months to Karen Batt (who was great)
Assured that an earlier build slot would be found
Martin O'Neill no longe at dealership (no surprise there) Roger (new Sales Mgr)at Gowrings assures me that he would personally oversee the order (given their collosal f*** up)
Gowrings appoint a Mustang and Vignalle specialist - Sanjay who gets in touch
October - Karen confirms November build and then 'confirms' build date of 11/11
'Sanjay' has left the building (dealership - that was quick)
November - chased Roger at Gowrings to see if car had actually been built on 11/11 as promised
No reply.
Today, after assurances last Friday that Roger would call me back, I find that he left the dealership on Monday!! Am given a new contact who calls me (after several emails and cc FMCUK) where I'm finally given a partial VIN (so car doesn't sound very built to me) and an ETA of April 9th!! :(
Checked ETIS and looks like car hasn't been built yet.

So I'm now checking (with Karen) to see whether my 'assurance over a November build date is indeed the case (as Vista and ETIS aren't exactly reliable sources of info from what I gather).

I'm not sure who's worse - Ford or the dealer?

Were there an alternative (dealer/source for car in timeframe I require) I would take it in a heartbeat.

Fan-fucking-tastic!! :frusty:

I'm also with Gowrings and Roger was the SIXTH guy that was supposed to be "looking after" me since my deposit in January and I spoke to him within the last two weeks and mentioned that fact to him & he never mentioned anything about HIM not being there much longer!

I just hope there are no issues with my car (which is currently at Southampton :amen:) which will prolong my "relationship" with them.

That is unforgivable! :eyebulge:

Hmm, not good that Roger's also "moved on". Matt and I met with him as he was very interested in doing an "S550 launch event" with some older Stangs. I shall be sure to let Matt know of the problems you've had and get him chasing!

Hope it works out for you, matey.

If your car has got that far - you should be fine!

Stuart Baker or Russell Symes should be this weeks contacts ;)

Sounds like we've been on a similar journey in terms of dealings with them. I know that car dealerships have horrendous staff retention issues, but this really does take the biscuit. :frusty:

Cheers Paul,

Today was the first time that they admitted that 'a salesman hadn't placed orders for 4 months' - so I imagine I'm not the only one in this particular boat. I may however be the only one who was aware of it - which is why I involved Andy Barratt/Karen Batt. I had been led to believe that an earlier build slot had been secured (when I say earlier, I mean 'in line with what it should have been given the deposit date!). But that remains to be confirmed....

Buying my S197 was about a million times easier - and that was importing from the US!

I got the same m8, mine was actually built on 19th, so hopefully yours will be any day now, just keep checking buddy. :)

P.S. Just check and mine now says was built 18th of November and I now have premium marketing trim, what the hell is that?

Just my two cents...
I don't believe there's any such thing as a build date in line with deposit date. Paid mine on 22nd Feb and have so far been told November delivery, then October build, then nothing, now w/c January 11th build. This seems late compared with other similar deposit payers however a lot of them are EBs and the GT has supposedly had some production issues.
As you were an April order (or should have been) it would logically follow your build should be after mine. Of course logic left the building around the time they announced Mustang would be built RHD.
I'm in two minds as to whether Andy/Karen should be trying to arrange earlier build slots, and they certainly shouldn't be making promises if the slots aren't guaranteed. It's not like Flat Rock are going to ramp up production to accommodate these earlier builds. Someone else is going to get bumped, who knows to where in the queue...
For the avoidance of doubt, this is not a criticism of anyone this side of the Atlantic with the exception of the guys who mishandled your order, just of the way the builds have been scheduled in general.

If you google "mustang vin decoder" one of the sites will show how to work out the first part of the vin...it varies on the engine and body style.

Don't fret mate re. the premium marketing trim, all the UK cars have that I believe :)

Thanks DS. After starting the thread I found an earlier thread with the first part of the VIN that was missing. Not that I'm any the wiser as a result!! :)
