Some cu.. young girl in a Honda Odyssey was texting and rear ended me while I was at a stoplight. Never thought I would come out with neck pains but I suree did. It's more like a sting that comes back every hour or so on the right side of my neck. Going to get it checked out tomorrow.

Anyways, she was determined to be at fault by the police officer and her insurance has already set up a claim. I've included some pics but for some reason all the "good" pics weren't even on my phone so I'll update the whole rear end in daylight tomorrow. Pretty much bumper popped out of place and both right and left sides have broken plastic clip-ons. I tried to push some of the bumper back in place because it was literally hanging out on each side. The diffuser also has something broken because at this point it's just flappin' around.

My main concern is this:
Driver's side taillight will not turn on but nothing seems broken. Could the impact done something to the interior for it to completely stop working? Also my rear sensors are going to need to be replaces as I keep getting a "Sensors at fault" error on the nav screen.

Lastly, it seems that the Honda Odyssey hit my trunk due to the fact that my car has scratches on the trunk lid but I noticed the left (drivers) side of the trunk is pushed in more than the right (passenger) side of the trunk. Pisses me off because I'm pretty sure this means bent metal.
All in all, it is what it is. Happy to be alive and happy that nothing worse came out of it.

I know that there is a thread out there with my same issue but is it true that I am able to start a DV claim?

Thanks for any info!

Edit* Can't seem to figure out why the pictures are coming out sideways.. Apologies in advance!

dude. sorry to hear man. it always sucks to see this. its happened to me 4 times in my car since February. two while stopped at stoplights. once while stopped in traffic. and once while the car was parked and i was getting a haircut.
insurance will take care of you and youll be back on the road in no time.
hope the neck pain goes away fast.
edit. the adjustor will work with you. my advice is go to multiple places and try and get high estimates. they will then send you a check and hopefully you will have scratch left over. i filed a claim with the guilty parties insurance all 4 times and got a total of 4200 dollars back. after that was done i filed with my insurance and they covered the lost value of the car if i were to sell it. i forget what its called but it was another 1200 dollars. i think its a diminished value claim.

Someone hits my car while texting, and I will be hard pressed to not commence to immediate violence.

At the very least, her cell phone would be rendered inoperable immediately. Whether that's due to impact with the ground or her face is anybody's guess.

Sorry to hear but glad it wasn't any worse. Totally sucks as it happened to me as well back in 2011, hope your Corsa exhaust wasn't damaged?
Good luck on the repairs and any DV claim you may file. They really need to bump the penalties for this texting/driving crap.

Thanks Cascadia. It all happened so damn fast. I saw her coming through my rearview mirror and I was like "oh shit." and closed my eyes. Clenched my cheeks too. All instinct :)

Insure that you advise your insurance adjuster (even though she was at fault) and the police that took the report that you are experiencing neck pains (no matter how minor or trivial they seem) and you arrange to be seen by a competent spinal specialist...no kidding! I know it sounds trivial but trust me, when you hit mid life that minor sting now could blossom into something more pronounced (take it from a rear end victim when I was 19 and thought "it's only a minor ache"...now have significant neck issues associated way back to that injury):gossip:

Same exact thing happened to me twice in my wife's Fusion......2012 and 2014. Both times it was a girl that cared more about her phone than anyone's safety - including her own.

Really sorry that happened to you. Mostly glad you are ok. Cars can be fixed, sometimes we can't.

I posted a couple months ago that the exact same thing happened to me while stopped at a light. Minor damage, but still sucks. Car was only a couple months old. The damage that could be seen was very minor, but after they checked at the dealership (where I had it repaired), they found more damage behind the plastic bumper cover. Seems there are some (clips) that hold it in place. Several of them were broken also. Total cost was almost $900. Other guys insurance paid for the damage, and it took around 5 days to get my car back. Perfect repair. I would bet he was playing with his phone too, but can't prove it, and he sure wouldn't admit to it.
