Concerns confirmed in person

Well I know I've said this before, but I went to a local dealer today to check out some of the Mustang's. Mine is hopefully coming in late March, Early April. The biggest dealer we have here has 8 or 9 Mustang's in various configurations, V8's, ECO's and V6's all with different packages. Most if not ALL have various issues with panel alignment. Some hoods with unequal gaps and some sunken on one side raised on the other. Most had front fender misalignments. Looking down the side of the car from the back you could see the front fender sticking out/not flush. One of the worst offenders was a DIB Mustang. I was walking around it and noticed snow was accumulating on the rear bumper where it meets the rear fender on the side of the car. The rear bumper should be flush with the rear fender on the side. I brushed the snow away and noticed the snow was accumulating on the bumper that was sticking out about a quarter of an inch. The rear bumper was like this on both sides of the car. It was almost like the car had been rear ended, but it had not.

I have to stop visiting the section of the forum as it is making me sad. Looking forward to getting my car soon, but cautiously optimistic. I haven't bought any accessories as I don't want to be stuck with accessories for a car I may not be signing for if it looks like some of the other Mustang's I've seen in person.

I looked at many of the other Ford vehicles in the show room and on the lot,... panels on all of the other various vehicles that Ford sells look great. There is obviously a problem with the 1st year production of the Gen 6.

I finally had time to take pictures of the panel gaps and misalignments. The rear bumper and fender is after the attempt to repair it, it's better but far from perfect.

My car has almost all of those. When was your car built PonyGrrrl? I've been to three different dealers here in Charleston SC and most of their Mustangs have misalignments.

That's pretty much how it went here in two different dealers. Now I'm on my 4th appointment (3rd dealer), but I'm only going to try to get the serious stuff fixed first (engine, trans & turbo)... I'm going to bring up all of the other defects (misalignments, interior, etc) once I'm done with those.

PS: I'm pretty jealous of you guys. I wish I had better dealers around here :D. I used to live in Miami FL, and I'm thinking about giving South Florida's dealers a try. I go down there quite often =)

January 9 & 12. I don't think it matters when, these issues persist.
Some more pics.

Didn't really pay any mind or notice this panel issue until I got to this thread. made me go outside and take a look at my panels. There a little off buto not too bad... would this be something that ford would fix?

This looks similar to mine, and I did not check, either, till I read the threads.
Since neither of us noticed anything to begin with I would suggest we don't stress it. ;)

I am sorry about all the panel trouble you're having, Ponygrrrl.
If it's any consolation, the paint color is beautiful. I did not realize how nice it looks in the sunlight.

I guess I have something to be thankful for, if I had door/fender interference with contact and paint damage i would FLIP THE F@&$ OUT.

Still not happy, still not in my possession and still paying for it.

I'm tired of the runaround with Ford, my CSR, and the tolerance nonsense and I have been trying to get these issues resolved to no avail. I called Ford again and I can't get this escalated any higher than the regional csr. A maintenance contract is hardly any type of consolation when my car is a crooked mess. Ford refused to repair the obvious problems so I submitted a warranty claim with the BBB a little while ago. I'm done begging Ford for help with a $38k car with so many obvious flaws in the design and production. I didn't want to go this route but I don't have a choice. I am not going to be stuck with a car I spent so much money on without recourse.

I didn't read back through your previous posts but just looked at your pictures. Are you telling us that you have been told all of that is within tolerance? Holy cow that is unacceptable. I hope you get some resolution.

Yes, that's what I have been told, I don't think I am being unreasonable about it. I could understand if it were one or two panels but EVERY panel is not tolerance in my book. The pictures didn't show the creases in the doors or the hideous edges of several panels from the way they press the molds, I tried to get it to show in the pictures but I would need a higher resolution camera to pick them up.

Have you tried asking them to supply the specs for the body panels? I'm guessing they might say its proprietary information or something. But it sure would be nice to have some concrete evidence that at least by Ford documentation it is (or is not) within what the Ford specs consider to be acceptable.

I don't need a caliper to tell that the gaps on her car are horrible. If that is what Ford calls "acceptable" then I won't be picking my car up when it comes. I would like to believe that if you end up going through arbitration PonyGrrrl you would win.
