So this being my daily, it will get to be driven during the winter pretty much...well daily. So I'm shopping around for tires and have some questions. I do a lot of highway driving so what I'm most afraid of is hitting an icy patch at 60mph+ or for example slowing down/speeding up on the on/off ramps. I'm literally scared with the tires I have now because I feel like they're hockey pucks when it gets cold/wet outside. I've literally driven on summer tires well into winter that felt better than these ones.
1. I have black accent wheels which are 19x8.5, so 255/40/19 PZero all seasons on them (garbage, drove in snow with them in March and had no confidence with them on). I found some winter tires LM60 Blizzaks but they're 245/40/19, would that be acceptable on my wheels?
2. Can I get away with just replacing the rears? I assume not, but I'd like to know what kind of effect that would have on drivability.
3. Any comparable All Seasons (Conti)? Again I assume not, but it would save me from having to do tire swaps between seasons.
4. Will stiffening up the rear help at all?
