I have a Valentine V1 for about a year now and an Escort 9500ix for 6 years. I like the Escort better and is smaller and easier to use. Sorry no pictures.

I'm running a Valentine1 with a mount on my mirror. I have to go back and hook up the mirrortap. I don't have pics of it on me sadly, I'll have to take some whenever I hook the mirrortap up.

I would really love a Stinger VIP system with the Lidar jammer, but damn are they expensive.

I've got a cheap Cobra, I think it was maybe $100, 10 years ago. It's been in 3 Mustangs and one Mazda 3 during that time and worked great. Time for an upgrade now though.

I have used a escort passport 9500ix for 3 years and loved it, for Christmas my old lady surprised me with the new escort passport max 360 (she wanted my old 1 lol) anyways I could never go back to any other radar now that I see what direction the radar is coming from. the max 360 has arrows that will show you where the threat is and its amazing.

Do many municipalities still use radar? I always seem to see laser.

Whistler CR90 here. Window mounted right above dash. Power from fuse box.

It seems to work fine. I bought it for a 1500 mile road trip and maybe saw one cop the whole time. Not much police activity where I drive locally but it catches them when they're out.

There are better ones (Valentine/Escort) but this fit my budget.

I sure see a lot of predatory cops in northern, GA.(my favorite riding area)
The worse ones are giving expensive tickets on scenic byways in consruction zones. It doesnt seem to matter that the work was done months ago. Not even a hint of a piece of equipment. They never got me but I see plenty being robbed.

Almost all "radar" detectors have had laser detection as well for the last 10-15 years. As you might imagine though, you get a lot less warning with laser and they don't help if the troopers use "instant on". Still it's better than nothing.

Got a ticket from a laser years ago while using my detector, but it was a cheaper ticket than it would've been without it. Managed to slow down to 78 before I was picked up.

Cobra's are absolutely useless. When you upgrade, look into something more legit like a V1 or Escort.

I was set to buy a max 360 as I liked the color readout and GPS lockout, but a lot of the reviews said the range wasn't as good as some of the more tried and true detectors. I'm sure its something Escort will revise as time goes on.

Yes, every town I drive through before I hit the highway uses Ka or K. Pennsylvania State troopers in my area are still shooting K band which was a shock to me.

Laser is always instant on, it doesn't have a constant on function like radar because it doesn't operate the same way.

Lidar has a very close beam which the officer aims at a reflective surface of your car (headlights or license plate are most common). By the time that beam hits your car its about 18" in diamater. The only way a normal detector like my V1 can pick it up would be if the officer hits it with the gun, or a light fragments into the detector by accident. To date I think I've picked up two legitimate lidar hits, one was a maryland state trooper aiming at me, the other was a NJ state trooper who was aiming at someone else and happened to fragment off to me in the right lane. They speed trap in the same spot on my commute to work and my detector is always quiet.

The only thing a Lidar detector will do is tell you you're screwed, Lidar guns can record your deceleration in real time. Some of the new models even have video cameras to record you hitting the brakes.

This is a great site, its where I learned about the YaV1 app for my V1.
