Shelby FP350S Race Car Revealed

Ford Performance just unveiled the all-new track-only Shelby FP350S race car at the 2016 Performance Racing Industry show in Indianapolis today.

This turnkey race car was designed specifically for road racing sprint events in Trans Am (TA3 and TA4), NASA and SCCA club racing (T1 and T2) events.

In what has become a long line of turnkey race cars that include theFR500C, Boss 302R and 302S and the GT350R-C and GT4 which was unveiled at this year’s SEMA show, the Shelby FP350S is built upon the Shelby GT350 and a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine prepared by Ford Performance Parts. However, this one utilizes a cross-plane crankshaft rather than the flat plane design of the GT350 Voodoo engine.

“Our goal has always been to provide those who want to race with equipment that enables them to compete and win,” said Dave Pericak, global director, Ford Performance. “Shelby FP350S is our latest example.”

The FP350S also adds a whole line of race car bits, including modified unibody chassis with seam welding, six point FIA-compliant roll cage and quick-release steering wheel, performance oriented oil pan and oil cooler, and race oriented exhaust and suspension components which include electric steering calibrations and ultra high-performance brakes. The package is mated to a Tremec 3160 manual transmission with 3.73 rear final drive ratio and integral oil pump.

Other interior and exterior highlights include a Ford Performance splitter and carbon fiber adjustable rear wing, MOTEC data acquisition system and optional custom graphics and race wheel package.
