Considering a personalized plate for my incoming 2022... it'll be Grabber Blue, GT, 6spd. Wife wants to call it "Cookie Monster"... couldn't think of anything with "COOKIE" that wasn't already taken in Texas and anything abbreviated as CK or COOK or KOOK, etc. could be misconstrued, haha. I'd rather not.

So I figured out a combo that involves my last name/family name (which my wife shares with me) and I kind want to take the opportunity to get it while it's available. However, I wonder if anyone has concerns about their real name being written on their car/plate? Car will be garaged and not daily driven, if that matters. I don't plan on driving stupid and there's absolutely no manner in which a Grabber Blue car is going to be subtle. It'll be visible, custom plate or not.

Appreciate your feedback.

I have a custom plate on my car with the first letter of my first name and my last name. Example John Smith, JSMITH. I've had this plate on my daily driver for about 3-4 years and I've had no issues.

There was a guy in Canada who's plates were denied because his last name was Grabher Story here. I don't see any problem with having your name on your plate however the amount of crazies out there seems to grow every day and you might want to keep a degree of anonymity.

Now if your last name is Dick you want want to reconsider. Or if you're a Therapist you could use that but some might think you're The Rapist.

My brother-in-law has a supercharged 67 Chevelle. It used to have a license plate that said "BLOWN 67". I can't tell you how many of his friends would come up to him at car meets and ask "How would you like to make it 68?" as they pretended to unzip their fly.

Personalized license plates don't always have the meaning you thought they did.

I'm a fan, as they allow for a bit of fun with the car.....

My wife has a '67 Camaro SS396 clone with the plate "UNREAL" for a bit of play on words, as a common question is whether it's a legit big block SS.

I re-used the plate from my ex-Bondurant school Mustang when I brought #14 home from the Ford Performance Racing School. ...

And since #14 has become known as the Rented Mule now, I have this on order.....

And, here's my LS7 powered '73 Z28...

If it was me, I don't think I'd want my last name on it. I might occasionally do something that makes somebody angry...

As a tangent, I wish Texas would drop their rates on personalized plates. Our custom plates are way, way more expensive than surrounding states like OK ($23) or LA ($25). I think TX could raise a lot more overall revenue by dropping the rates to something that more people would be wiling to pay for.

As long as your name isn’t Long Johnson you should be fine.
