Custom plates in Texas are too expensive ($500 for 5 years?) and you only own the name for that time before you have to pay up again. Worth it? I say no.

Made a decision :) Decided against putting my last name on the plate. Going with the car's theme. Yes, Texas personalized plates are stupid expensive.

Very cool. What is your favorite cookie?

Its hard to justify the expense but it is fun.

As for having your name on there I seriously doubt its going to be an issue....unless you constantly piss people off while driving or park like an ass hat.

You say stupid expensive for you guys... What does it cost? In the end, these are our babies/toys, whether summer weekend ride or a track weapon or a daily beast. I love this gen.

Mine's $50/yr extra in OH (on top of normal reg fees). Wanted to keep the Czech heritage/citizenship/home reminder (without a sticker of the flag) and my late father-in-law loved to call me the Czech Mate. But some turd already has "CZECHM8" in OH, so I went for the closest next:

Huh. That's quite a bit still... I wonder if you're then stuck with it, or if you want to change it, you get refunded or forego your money or what.

Yup, high quality stuff. I'm a gc holder, so I can't have one (I am not that into guns anyway), but wife (American) actually got 75 compact as a gift from her late father as a gift, so the Czech heritage runs deep for us and wife adopted it as part of her heritage now too, since she's czeched me out a few years ago and then BOOM - married.

I posted this earlier, but since this is a specific thread on personal plates, here ya go…In Illinois, a personal plate with a number included is cheaper, so I picked 5 for 5 Liter…

To me, a license plate is a fun way of playing psychological games. Too many custom plates don't make sense or seem to try too hard. And the last thing I want to do is be provoking or get myself into trouble but if you do it right, you can really make heads spin or people wonder. The plates on my cars all interconnect. You would only understand my Mustang plate once I pulled away from you on a twisty road if you were following.
