Wow What a Difference of Opinion I see about wheel width! Opinions please read!

So I am looking to put new wheels and tires on my 2021 CS/GT. I am looking at some SVE wheels from LMR, but I have seen a bunch of reviews about the Nittos they have with the wheels and think I can do better with Michelin or Firestone or even Generals. The thing is, when I look at the LMR wheel and tire combo, they show 19x10s with 285s on all four. Or, they show 19x10 and 19x11 with 285 front and 305 rear.
The stock S550 in my garage has PzeroNero 255 30r 19s.
Tire rack says that 19x10 is too big for the fronts and that 285s will rub.
LMR is selling the wheels with 285s on them so I have to assume they are not going to rub.

The question is...who is right?

What aftermarket wheel/tire combos are YOU running, and are you getting any rubbing issues with larger than 255 front/rear?

What is the widest rear tire you can run without rubbing or a lot of poke? I would like to go with the 19x10 + 19x11 wheel combo with 285/305 or maybe 315 but since this is a purchase I cannot return, I don't want to get burned.

This is right off tiresize.com calculator. I think the 285 would be to large as you can see in the picture an extra 1.2 inchese deep and .7" taller I feel you would more than likely have some rubbing issues but I could be very wrong as I haven't tried looking up what all can fit on that vehicle as far as tire sizing etc.

So glad you posted this. I am pondering going to 20" wheels on my CS 2021. Much confusion out there. Maybe I am totally wrong and should just stay with 19". Does anyone know the stock wheel's width? I took a tape measure to the wheel opening and it looks way wider than 8 and 1/2", which is the width I see a lot.... Seems wrong to me for a GT.

285/35 19 will not rub on the front...even with a lowered car.
305/35 19 will not rub on the rear....even with a lowered car.

LMR sells those packages to take all the guess work out of it. There are pages and pages on this forum about LMR wheels.

Stock wheel on the CS is 19x8.5 on all 4 corners.

I have 275/35/19 f and 305/35/19 R Super Sports and also 275/35/19 f and 305/30/19 r RivalS 1.5s with no rubbing and no spacers. What you have to look at is: 1) wheel offset, and 2) is the section width of the tire wider? You can have a 275 that is the same width as a 285 depending on the tire spec. 285's might very well rub. But Tire Rack is unlikely to recommend anything that isn't stock due to liability.
There's a lot to this. Is your suspension stock? Or do you have narrower coil overs? Tire spec? Wheel offset? Is you camber maxed at the hub?

One factor to consider is the wheels' offset, how positive or negative. Too much positive offset could cause the tire and rim to rub against the suspension. Too much negative offset could cause rubbing of the fender lip and "poke".

Another is the diameter of the tire, which should land +/- 3% from the ones being replaced. More than this, the car's ABS and computer systems could have problems working with a tire/rim too tall or short.

From insight gleaned from these forums and posts, along with LMR's site, many have installed 19x10s with 285/35/19s, no other adjustments required.

Ran them on 2 s550s, first with Continental Dws06, second with Michelin pilot as-4.

I would say go with LMR's recommendations over Tire Rack, LMR has this figured out. Tire Rack will just recommend oem fitments or close to them. 285/35r19 on a 35 offer wheels is very popular because it works. I am running 315/30r19 tires on 19x11, 52 offset wheels on all corners of my 2020 GT PP2. Using a 25 mm spacer and extended studs on the front. I have no issues with rubbing anywhere. I am on stock suspension, but getting ready to lower it about 3/4" and I still don't think I will have any issues. Quite a bit of room on the S550 platform.

A 5% change is pretty common with track guys (275/40r19 to 305/30r19) and I have never heard of anyone having any kind of ABS or computer related issues. I would say 5 to 6% would be safe.

I just put a set of LMRs SVE 355 19x10 +35mm offset on with the Nittos 285/35/19 square with no issues. The TPMS synced up nicely too

This is the combination I've come up with also. So on 19 x 10 + 35mm with 275/40 tires square setup, would spacers be required for them to sit flush?

Yes, those are normal offsets and widths to run 285/35 fronts and 305/xx rears.

Offset is critical. 285 on an ET35 is fits fine (front or rear). 305 ET50 or ET52 is also fine (rear only).
