Hey guys! So my local Ford dealer is selling a 2021 GT500 CFTP, CPO car with 9k miles. Asking price has dropped from $103k to $97k in just a few weeks. I'm guessing I can get them to 95k. It also has the $10K painted stripes (which I could care less about) which of course is keeping the price higher.

My concern is the mileage. I'm not worried about mechanical issues with 9k miles (especially having the CPO warranty) but in the next two years I'll probably put 20k miles or so on it. When I go to sell it or trade it in, it will basically have 30k miles instead of 20k, and I'm worried I might take more of a beating on what I can get for it.

Do you guys think I'm overly concerned about nothing? If this was a different car 9k mile would be nothing, but I know cars like this are a bit more sensitive to miles when it comes to resale value.

Am I being stupid or is my concern valid? Thanks for any opinions!

That’s a pretty good price on a painted stripe cftp. I’m sure you already know if you want less miles your going to pay more. That car should still be under the bumper to bumper.

I don’t think it having 20k miles or 30k miles will really matter all that much when it’s time to sell in a few years time… especially IF there isn’t a newer GT500 coming.

They already lowered it. So go lower. The worst thing is they won’t budge. Go in offer 90k and see if they’ll meet you at a lower price.

I would pass if I was worried about the value after driving it some. to much uncertainty in any market these days. Now if I wanted the car to use it then I d say shop that price and decide.

No offense, but this has been said and parroted for how many years now. It’s a car purchase, nothing that complicated about it.

Nope. All good. I agree. Buy it to enjoy it and if money is such a concern pass.

I'd offer 90K More than likely they will meet you in the middle between $97K and $90K which if they come to 93K I'd jump, I just ran across someone who bought a 2022 with 5K mi. on it and another that had 2021 10K mi. on it, they had no regrets. In the end its all about what you plan to do. I personally buy cars to enjoy and have the resale value in the back of my mind just in case, but it doesnt take front and center, I buy the car to enjoy 1st, resale is 2nd and thats based on maybe.

Thanks for all the advice guys!! I'm going to watch it a longer and then make them an offer. Hopefully I'll be joining the club soon!

Agree, lowball the hell out of it (under 90K even) . Nothing to lose. Painted stripe, who cares now it's got 9K on it. What do you thing they paid for it?

The dealership? Who knows. But dealerships always are trying to make with these cars between 10-15K+ above their initial investment to cover maintenance, advertising dollars, what they paid for it taxes and so on. They know people will pay that extra money.
